It’s official. I’m a modeler.
Hello all,
So it's been about two years since I started this lovely hobby. Like you guys I have many dollars invested in paints, tools, and reference materials. I have enough kits in the stash to last years. I'm constantly watching videos, reading advice here, and practicing my craft to become a better modeler. I look back and the results today are much better than two years ago.
None of this makes me a modeler. Tonight I became a modeler.
You see, tonight I pitched my first model. It went right in the trash. Just like a goodfella who has to get pinched before he's a gangster I now feel initiated in the hobby. Here's the funny thing. I'm ok with it. I knew this day was coming and I know there will be other days where a build doesn't go my way. The kit is Tamiya's Toyota GT One racer. It's a great kit. I just failed on to many areas and I couldn't get the results I wanted. I couldn't get the body to fit, the windscreen wouldn't align, a few decals got away from me, and I had problems with the exhaust. After weeks of trying to correct my mistakes I grew tired and had to say goodbye to something that was more headache than an enjoyable experience.
Its all good. We move on. Maybe down the road I'll try this kit again.
