OK, I'm getting it in gear now.  Needed to re-arrange the builds that are in progress on my bench.  Just one time, I'd like to finish one of these FSM challenges/ GBs on time.

I'm working on a Roden 1/72 Fokker triplane.  It is brand new to me, as the kit was released in 2000, and I fell away from building WWI aircraft in about 1995.  "Brand new kit" means different things to different folks.

I have an outside chance of finishing it on time.  :-)

Real G-Aerosan looks good-interesting subject.

I finally picked a kit out of the stash and got started-the old AMT '32 Ford Vicky.  I built this kit about 55 years ago....decided to try the kit again-will be posting over in the Auto forum.

Had started (primed the body) for a Weekend Madness GB a year or two ago and thought better of it.....

How do we post pictures?

 Thanks

Mattw, you need to have a photo host site.

Had a start on the Aerosan.

Fit is generally good, but those springs will demand careful cleanup.  The Miniart figures do not fit paricularly well, their collars needing trimming to get their heads to fit.

It's supposed to have be from the Aurora mold that was never used.  Got if off Ebay and it looks just like what Atlantis is going to put out in the spring.

Please excuse the crudity of this model,... I didn't have time to build it to scale or paint it...

Hey snap, the start day is tomorrow. Are you going to start an official thread over at GB?

Not an official GB. Just post in the Relavent Forum with "Christmas Challenge (kit)"

So what exactly made you decide to start this GB on a Monday? Just curious.

It is not a group build as there is no theme.

Originally it started as a 12 day challenge to fit in with the 12 days of Christmas. As most members seemed to be taken up with family and didn't spend much time at the bench then with the pandemic it seemed right to change things a little so I decided to mimic the year(s) with the time frame.

So this year the build lasts from 20th December to 22nd January (2022). This means that although time is limited unlike a group build (about a year) there should be enough time for participents to build what the hell they like. Of course, more than one kit if they can do this. There is no limit or restriction apart from the dates.

It is also a way for members to make space in their stash and build those small "quick" kits that are taking room up for something nice that is being released.

Join in, choose something and post in the relavent section. You know.... HAVE FUN!!!

I think it's about time to take a stab at a terrain base.  A friend who does Warhammer 40K minis usually makes bases for them.  His creations often supersede the commercial ones by a good country mile.  I'll be consulting with him on how to best model a little patch of snow covered dirt.

Cool! YouTube has some diorama videos that could be helpful, too.

Obligatory pre-construction photos:

Since the figures are standing, the model will need a base to integrate them.

The kit actually contained two aerosans, but I gave one to a friend.

Will you be doing a small diorama, then? That's always fun!

I like the quality of MiniArt figures (I have their French Tank Crew kit). I would bet this kit will be similarily of good-quality.

Welcome Rick.

Enjoy and have fun.

This is what this build is about. 20th December is the "Offical start" but if you want to start earlier then that's fine. Cut off date is 22 January. This should give you plenty of time to do your build.

For those wondering about the stencils I have mentioned...

Here is the website pictures of the set!

I got them from Hannants for £20. They should be turning up any day now!

Those are cool-- not even quite like I was imagining! It's even better!

RealG,

I just finished Trumpeter's 1/35 kit of this vehicle and it went together very easily.  Hoping to add it to a winter diorama eventually.

Count me in.  I have returned, after many, many years, to working on 1/72 WWI birds, and I am slower than molasses at building, even on a good day.  Haven't finished a kit in this short of a period since I was about 15 years old, when LBJ was president.  I've failed out of any number of GBs here, but want to give this a try.

My topic is up in the air(so to speak) at the moment, but it will be a triplane - either a Fokker Dr. I from Revell, Roden or Eduard, or a Sopwith from Revell or KP.  There are cool markings for both of those planes.

I'm in,...

I've got one of those short run plastic kits, a Metaluna Mutant creature from This Island Earth.  Its like the one Atlantis is going to issue next year.  About 1/12th scale.

Is that an oldie kit, or a new kit done in the old Aurora monster vein?  I have never seen the Metaluna Mutant as a plastic kit before.

Oh, and don't forget the Santa hat and fake beard to terrorize naughty kids who stay up to wait for Santa on Christmas eve!  Stick out tongue

It is nice to see folks jumping in to have some crimble fun.

Most of the stuff for my Revell 1/32 Bf 109 G-6 is here. Just waiting on some paint masks and decal set. Hopefully they will be here this week.

I will be changing the paint job on the kit to reproduce Franz Steiglers' 'Yellow 2'. Also, all being well there will be only two decals used. Everything on the aircraft, including stencils will be paint. There is just the squadron badge and kill marks that I can't paint!

My Christmas Presents are now here. I think that you will be amazed!

That's gonna be a big 109! Kudos on doing stenciling; gotta be nice when you can bypass the decals!

I'll vote the MiniArt kit!

OK I'll play.  I'll throw in with an aerosan, because nothing says "Christmas" like a WW II Soviet sled on skis!

Which one should I do?
