Hi Ya'll !

Hey, I have just read the thread by SilentBob. We all have those times when it just ain't there. I know. There's been at least three times in my life that I thought I might as well throw in the towel on Model Building. Hain't done it yet.

What I did to regain the interest was Two-Fold. I started reading everything I could about this Craft/Hobby we call Model Building. There turned out to be stuff I'd had never ever even heard about. I even tried Figurines as well.

Well , then it hit me Why don't I try passing on the skills I had learned? The only P.E. at the time, I could find, was car related. So, I went to the director of the North little Rock, Ar. Community Center and got the skinny on creating a class.

The youngest student turned out to be a thirty Something House-Wife whose Husband was a Car Nut! The Oldest ? A grandMa Ma whose Grand sons and Daughters were pestering grandMaMa to have something to do when they visited her.( She built a Mean Gasser !).

Then I got bit buy the Bug again. I lost it when I lost my first wife. Got it back doing Commissions. And fell into a world of maritime related stuff I never expected to, that had NOTHING to do with the Hobby! But, it fired up the interest again.

There's always something that will restart the interest in the hobby. The trick is - Don't Force yourself to! The Models and the Bench will be there. Go Clean the Bench, Or, Re-Arrange it. Read, Relax and let the body recover from whatever shock it has had, wether it is Emotional or Physical ! You are NOT a Machine that can just keep on going till the motor burns out!

After the Second wifey got her wings, I figured Oh, What the Heck! and packed everything up and said Phooey! Well, The MAN upstairs guided my footsteps to the Local RailRoad Museum. As you know there's a LOT of modelbuilding associated with Train Models! Yup !

That Re-Ignited the need for Glue and Building time. I slowly drifted into Correcting, Repairing and Generally creating stuff agin. Now after five years as a Docent/Vice president of Modeling I am on My third year as President of the Museum and Modeling Club, and getting back, or holding on through the eye thing.

It's all good. Just let up and It'll find it's way back. I gawrentee it or my name ain't "Doc!"

I get that way now and then. Don't put pressure on yourself. Try some challenges like resoting old glue bombs.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

TB you need to write two books. One on modeling techniques and another on your life story. I'll buy both, as Gam said, I would love to learn from you.

I love running across an old glue bomb and trying to give it a new life. I also like to find vintage kits, or the current reissue and giving it another try. I noticed my Wal-Mart has a few of the original Return of the Jedi snap together kits (saw the B-Wing and Luke's X-Wing today).
