I just literally spoke with a guy at a large scale hobby shop on the phone who told me the Revell 1/96 Constitution is not in production. I wasn't sure if anyone else was aware of this or not so I just wanted to pass this info along in case someone was looking to buy one at a B&M shop or online. That probably accounts for why some of the prices I have seen on eBay for these are in some cases way out of line.
It might not ever be again. Molds are super old.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
The Revell 1/96 USS Constitution has been in and out of production since the 1950s. I have her in all of her incarnations. I expect that she will be back in production after a while.

That was a popular enough kit that there are likely some around. Do a google search, and as a last resort look at ebay. Also, ask in the ships forum.
Are you looking for this kit to build? I may be able to help you.

I have built this kit several times during late grade school and through high school. I graduated in 1970 so I'm pretty sure teh molds are showing signs of wear and tear. Maybe whenit comes out again it will be improved. You can only hope.
It would be cool if they re-issued the Kersage and Alabama!

YES!!!! Either one of these kits have been on my bucket/ wish list for years! I had hopes when Revell reissued the big scale Spanish Galleon and the Yacht America a few years ago.
Would be nice ;prices for original Revell kits are quite high!
Revell does release both periodically. All of their large sailing ship kits are constantly released, not released, re-released etc. The latest release was not so long ago. Indeed, they have re-released fairly recently the so-called USS United States, the Elizabethan "Man 'o' War" and the Spanish Gallean. I don't get the concern; this is just long-standing Revell practise.
I am just finishing converting the Revell CSS Alabama to her real appearance, which was substantially different than the kit depicts. I have the USS Kearsarge waiting in the wings, as I do with the USS Constitution and United States. The biggest issue with the U.S. centers on the quarter galleries and the transom, both of which are correctible to the appearance depicted in several paintings. Unfortunately, little more is known of her appearance. I can only assume that she was otherwise close to the Constitution. I also have Cutty Sark. I will not purchase either galleon as they are simply Hollywood fiction.

Tjs,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Yes, I'm looking for a Revell 1/96 Constitution.
Southpawslingshot, how do I get in contact with you about the USS Constitution?
Oh, I hope so. I built her twice as a teenager (Don't ask how long ago that was) and hope to go at it a third time after I finish my current HMS Victory, and the ones I already have in the line-up. I hope so.
