Do You Know?
Posted by Tanker-Builder on Saturday, August 20, 2022 3:35 PM

Hi Ya'll!

          I want someone to correct me, but I don't think they can. Maybe fans of Cruise and Passenger ships on the market in the late 60's and early to mid. 70's can straighten me out. When I bought my First Oriana (REVELL) and a later Canberra (AIRFIX) by mail for sjipmenyto my duty station, except a slight difference in scale they were darned near the same. The Oriana was I believe 1/499, While the Canberra was 1/484. Who worried when you had the whole package!The Oriana, Canberra, and the Brasil!(Revell) Again in the 1/400s.

     In my mind at least, these were the prettiest Cruise Type ships out there. I was dissappointed that I could do the Lurline(Matson Navigation) But, it would be made by IDEAL, not a company known for accurate looking models. Yes, Mods would've been needed, But their American president liner was close, I think it was1/275 scale!

 Now here's the last question that has me questioning my Sanity. I recently found another Oriana. I swear it's in a larger scale than the original. It's molded in tan and quite the handfull Compared with the REVELL edition.The difference in the two is not pronounced ,but Notable,the only instance I can Give here is the lifeboats on the Revell ship are NOT fully molded,Molded enough to fit in the tight space on the boatdeck in one length piece.The Tan one has all the lifeboats including the two Cutters(Closest to the Bridge)As seperate pieces, and about a 1/16" lomger each. Am I Nuts?

         Please tell me so I will know which brand of licquer to change or delete altogether! LOL.LOL.LOL. I don't mean that. I got a bottle for Christmas(A very well respected Scotch) and only have had three shots(One Finger)(No not lengthwise!)LOL.) since I got it. I am Puzzled (Oh! by the way, None of the tan parts will fit on the Revell White one, It's smaller)

ddp59;

       Although I appreciate your input, I had a problem finding Just the Airfix listing of just one issue the 1/60 0Canberra! They seem very hard to navigate through their site. I will keep searching and Thank You! for your help. Oh! I Did run across a one line comment about an Aurora model ( Wheeler Cruiser ) that gave no info other than run dates, plus an innacurate comment about the hull.
