Hi Guys
When I was a lad my cousins husband would tell me tales of when he was in the RAF serving with 467 squadron and particularly when he was airframe fitter on S-Sugar.
Here he is on top of the fuselage, the small photo is him and I underneath the aircraft in Hendon RAF museum
For his eightieth birthday eighteen years ago I made him a small dio featuring 'his' aircraft or 'kite' as he would call it.
It's the Aifix 1/72 kit along with thier Matador refueller and was the first plastic model I had built since the early seventies. Totally hooked from then on - haven't stopped since
I tried to capture the scene - Bob on top of the fuselage (cleaning the windscreen he told me) and a colleaugue taking his pic
I've just had a call to say that today he passed on peacefully in his sleep - aged 98
RIP Robert 'Bob' Turner - you were such an inspiration to me
