Thats a tough choice. Nothing beats seeing them in the air, but each of these flyable WWII aircraft is essentially priceless. The rule makers surely need to rethink any flying displays in light of this event and forbid similar close proximity multi column flybys as was being attempted here.

That's terrible and tragic.
From all the videos of the collision, the P-63 impacted the B-17 just behind the wing into the fuselage and cut the ship in two. The wings and forward fuselage of the B-17 came down as one unit, while the tail fell to earth separately. The P-63 disintegrated upon impact.
A true tragedy for all involved- the aircrews, their families & friends, and the spectators present.

The P-63 was making a high-speed, turning pass down the left side of the B-17, and his turn wasn't tight enough. They were nearly parallel to each other when the collision occurred, with the leading edge of left wing of the P-63 hitting the trailing edge of the left wing of the B-17. That severed the left wings of both aircraft. Pretty sure the P-63 pilot was killed instantly because it looked like the cockpit area went through the propeller on the left inboard engine of the B-17.

My heart goes out to thise who lost someone at the Dallas,Tx. Airshow. I was, years ago a supporter of the "Razorback Wing" of the Commerative A.F. when I was at home in Arkansas. They were based at Pine Bluff, Ar. I do remember the "Texas Raiders", in passing. Again, My prayers for those families AND all those on the ground who had to witness such a horrific cutting short of peoples lives!

It was the Commemorative Air Force's "Texas Raiders."
An incredible (and way-too-preventable) tragedy.

We lost 6 good people today. At an airshow in Dallas a P-63 collided with a B-17 severing the plane in two right behind the wings. All lives onboard both planes were lost in less than a second. Terrible news for all those people. God rest their soles, peace be with thier families.
