I haven't seen the article, but the actual airlift used C-54s among other aircraft.

Hi Ya'll:

That was a fun article, BUT! I wonder are my eyes are playing tricks on me. Does one of the planes have longer wings than the other or is it just the way i am seeing the photos? I have a C.54)I believe the "Berlin Bomber was based on a D.C.7C. wasn't it?)
