Rebuild a Wrecked or Damaged Model
Posted by Tanker-Builder on Saturday, February 4, 2023 9:47 AM

The Title?

I mean it! If you can do this, no model will ever be beyond your ability to build. Given my years, upon opening the box, I have gotten some Nasty surprises over the ensuing time. Maybe it's good that with no allowance, I sought out broken and discarded BB targets to rebuild. this taught me that in modeling Nothing is impossible.

I couldn't find a certain kit's hull one time (The original was missing the whole Bow.)It still wears it's balsa replacement well! And that was a Revell BOX Scale Ship! Even in Cars.  I found a nice  Maisto Dodge dually in the trash. The doors were okay, But the roof was smashed down and the front wheels askew(It was a Die-Cast Model) I took it home and with a little cajoling and heat I restored the roof and replaced the windows and re-aligned the front end. Now It is in Glorious metallic Candy Green in front of a Scratch built Show Horse trailer built on an ERTLE discard!

I do these now to get out of the building "RUT" that we all find ourselves in once in a while. Is this Our Writers Block? Hmmmm, I wonder. Catchya Later T.B.

Yes !I had to rebuild my Hasegawa Mavis twice before I lucked out and found a plastic display case large enough to fit it at a local thrift store . Does keep you sharp and expands your skill set!

Interesting; when I finish a model, usually the first question I get is "how high was the shelf it fell off of?"

It must have something to do with my finishing technique .   .   .

"Why do I do this? Because the money's good, the scenery changes and they let me use explosives, okay?"
