I Hope this Helps!
You will have to do this, As I did years ago on this same model. Cut off the wheel flare all around the wheel lip.Take thin strip Evergreen that matches the thickness of the fender! and restore the thinner part of the wheel opening. Then take thinner strip and create a backing for the next step.
Take Evergreen plastic the thickness of the body and put it in the upper and lower places allowing them to overlap at the crease and make sure the outer edge of the crease is filed at an angle to match the Contour. Fill lightly and wreck away. Take the end of the flare and let it hang off or whatever. Viola! one messed up wheel flare. Use more of the thin strip to hang off around the top over the fill piece you put in.
Oh, I am sorry, I mis-understood what you said. You want to turn this into an "Esprit" Okay, using the parts I told you about. That's how you restore the wheel openings. The bottom part when done as I said with fill used, will conform back to the body shape. Funny! My "Esprit" had Fender Flares!(Must've been a dealer Thing!) Oh and I could only get it in a Deep metallic Wine color then. Later they came in Gold and Blue too I think! The Hood Scoop bump was offset to the side as well.
There was a "Bird " on the hood BUT, it was smaller and only on the Scoop ("Bump") I think these things were regional dealer items too!
