How many of you have her?
have you looked at her with a critical eye? I ask for a reason. How many of you are going to paint the hull black anyway? Don't answert, and if you want do so, do it. I recommend Not to Paint it, except the water line color and the small stripes necessary.
Why? Well, look at the kit plastic finish. It's a beautiful collection of texture and the black it's molded in finishes out in the mold with a nice Semi-Gloss patina. Plus, you will NEVER duplicate in paint, that precise hull color or finish.
This is done in a laboratory somewhere distant from the molding facility. It is precision measured pellets of colored plastic mixed with the idea of keeping continuity of the color even if the mix is virgin pellets, recycled scrap pellets and virgin pellets or just recycled and virgin material only. The molders will crush poorly molded product, pelletize it and re-run it rather than throw it away.
Plastic for the industry is expensive even by the ton or carboy.Plus nobody really has an idea as to what the cost of the pigment mix is for said ton. This stuff is mixed and Ground with a precision formula that is milled to close specs. In othet words ,You Won't be able to match it precisely. Don't try, just Don't paint that hull!
