Border Models Camo Mask Cutting Mats... I'm confused
Posted by DanR1967 on Monday, February 5, 2024 6:05 PM

All,

I bought these masks from Sprue Brothers while they were having a sale on all Border Models items. I wasn't sure what they were, but naively assumed they were some kind of reusable masks. They're solid metal sheets and honestly, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to use them. Any tips?

Place your masking tape onto the mat, cut your pattern using the recessed cutting lines, place your mask on the model and paint.  I'd probably use some frisket film.

As bove, these are intended as  'make your own' & reusable stencil pattern. Are there no instructions, even on their website?

I have now seen the latest kits come with QR codes in the instruction sheet, with links to videos or further views to clarify steps.

Thanks guys, I did look it up further on Border's site as there were no instructions included with the masks. I appreciate the assistance!

If you're still unsure about how to use the specific photo-etched metal sets you purchased, it might be helpful to look for tutorials or guides online that are specific to the brand or type of set you have.
