Ditto

I recently bought a pirate ship, which I have heard is a re-issue of a French frigate.  I will be changing it back to the frigate.

Sounds like La Flore by Lindberg. That is a nice little model.

Some folks have converted it to the Surprise from the Aubrey/ Maturin series.

Bill

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Yeah!

That too. many times as a child, I would find an old ship (Sail) kit in the trash or at the bottom of the fountain I cleaned. I would imagine the rebuilding and go for it.

Hi Ya'll!

Well, I am doing it. The Free models I got at the I.P.M.S. Show, The tanker IS on it's way to beimg a Sangamon Class Escort Carrier after I get some pics, and I am doing a "What If "Hospital ship based on Revell's U.S.S.Randall! The Hospital ship is going to share some design cues from the French Liner Normandie, and the Carrier is a what if as well. Oh, she'll be Sangamon as a type.

She will be weaponed up though as if the technology had been available then Rail Guns, Ciws and Vertical Launch Systems plus a haven for VTOL aircraft! This is going to be fun! The Hospital ship is already getting the Second deck shaped, The Carrier is devoid of much, as I want it to bear a strong resemblance to the class I mentioned. The third ship I haven't decided yet. It's the REVELL model of the C-3 type freighter(( Hawaiian Pilot) fitted out as a Stores ship. I may do her as a modified Passenger/Freighter so there won't be as much to do to her.

The Passenger/Freighter concept has been around as long as there have been Sail/Coal/Oil powered ships. They are still with us too! My last command had 26 Deluxe cabins,  Pool and Cafeteria food service fo passengers including a small Cocktail lounge/Theater as well! Remember, My last command was a VLCC! Just imagine if we had been carrying Coca-Cola Syrup instead of oil. That would've made a lot of Cokes!6million barrels worth!

Anyway, I will keep you posted, Geez, I wish I could do pics! Cameras are out of my reach right now, I am paying for car repairs, On my income they come first! I don't know how to get pics outta my phone then download them to a photohost and then over to Fine Scale anyway. Durned it, Just when I had learned how too!

I think all of us should take the time, Look at a particular Armor vehicle, Ship, Bomber Plane and look critically to try and figure out a civilian role for them. Every time they talk about retiring the B-52 I think modified, high yield fire bomber! M-113 or other,Emerg Vehicle/Plow for heavy Snow states. Ships can do lots of stuff besides shooting up Putin's backyard! Ya know, Salvage, Oceanography, Oceanographic studies. Seaborn, Way offshore S.A.R. etc!  Same with the Drones and AWACs planes!

We can keep the flying gas stations doing just that, selling gas and doing tuneups and fixaflats LOL,LOL. OOPS now I am getting silly,my son just texted and he's going to go play with his crazy R.C. cars, The large scale ones! What are they 1/8, 1/12?        Bye!
