I usually use 75-90% of the fret, but Nicholma has the right idea...... the PE stuff can be so two dimensional that it just doesn't look right sometimes.......
Then again, there's the little bits on the fret that you have NO IDEA where they go, cuz they don't appear on the instructions and they're un-identifiable....

I only ever use what I can actually manage to:

A. not lose
B.actually see.

Therefore I think I only manage to use about 75% of what's on the fret.

Some parts are just too small, rudder pedals in 1/72 being a good example, are often not visible when you've finished anyway!!

As others have said, I only use the bits I feel will actually improve the model. This usually turns out to be 70%-80% of a PE set (about 50% for an Aber set!).

I'm surprised at how often I find the original kit part to be better than the PE bit that's supposed to be superior!

I agonised for ages on oil cooler meshes and intercooler duct screens for my P47 and now I can't even see them. All I would need is a miniature version of one those snake cameras that plumbers use and I could check out all that work I spent 30 hours on.... LOL.

I'd have to say about 75% of the parts get used for a given kit. Some things are just too small for my fumbling fingers or I don't see any advantage in replacing the kit part. But I try to use as much as I can without causing permanent emotional or mental damage to myself.

80 - 100% depending upon whether it really is better than the kit part ist replacing. P/E is basicaaly 2 dimensional and especially on cars the 3d effect is necessary. Some of the 1/43rd kits have p/e suspension which even at that scale looks ridiculous.

80% typically....I hope!!! LOL I mainly go for cockpit details, and engine details, but the landing gear details are definately going on to my Corsair!!!

I just use the parts I feel will enhance the finished model. This boils down to 70% of my frets being used.

Probably only 30 - 50 % of the total fret.
I'll only use parts that actually enhance the model and I don't find that in most cases.

Typically, I'll use anywhere between 70% and 90% of the parts from a fret. Many parts, small ones especially, are duplicates (thank you, Eduard) that are included in case one of your parts takes a jackknife dive off the high board. As a rule of thumb, if the kit part being replaced or modified is fine the way it is, I don't use the photo-etch. Oh, good tweezers and a magnifier are an absolute must!

Its all still on the fret ,it keeps making hissing noises at me as though its saying
"TOUCH ME SUCKER AND YOU WILL REGRET IT"
