Posted by rebelreenactor on Saturday, May 22, 2004 10:24 PM
I was at my hobby shop today for one reason. I had been saving up my money for quite a while. and i finally got the chance to buy it, My airsoft gun, with $300 help;from my dad. [:0]. And the funny thing is, is that all i bought was 2 jars of paint. Man that thing is sweet!Evil [}:)]

Anyways i couldnt help but wonder, What is the most you have ever spent in a hobby shop? Me and my dad together spent $728.00, its our little secret from momBig Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Tongue [:P][:0]Wink [;)]

I think my worst was around $1,000 when I bought an R/C helo, radio, and everything to build it in one trip.

Your trip is going to get more expensive though, because if you don't pay us enough we're going to tell your mom! Evil [}:)]

In just one visit? Maybe $300 or so. An average visit is usually between $70 to $100, although it's been dropping lately.

While on a business trip last year, in a thirty day period I spent just shy of $2000 in all the hobby shops in San Antonio, Texas. Needless to say, the car was a real bear to pack for the trip home!

Wow, I better start learning to spend more. Big Smile [:D] I just spent $80 for my last order, but I never started to stockpile kits until last year. I can't remember what I paid for my old Aztec, maybe $85?

$138 for decals? Wow, I won't cry about the price of Archer transfers anymore. Man that's about 5 Dragon kits online.

US$25 on a Tamiya Kit (King Tiger).

I am a bit lucky the AB and compressor were given as gifts to me. Those could have cost an easy US$200.

It will be my next trip. I'm putting a list together in my head of things I "need" for when I get home. Evergreen stock, Tenax, some CA, tools, plastic cement, brushes, a couple of kits, AM sets, figures, paint, oh, didn't see that kit, add it to the pile...references? sure add those too...All the while the wife is shaking her head and mumbling about boys and their toys. I think I'll get a snap kit for my son (7) and get him started on the hobby, too.

In Oki, an average trip was 5-6 thousand yen (about 45-55 US) but I made a trip about every week, just to "see if there's something new."

Good one, John!!
And I'll never say a word to your mother!
The highest I've ever gone is about $400 for a small compressor and a double action Badger airbrush.

Cheers, LeeTree

This is why I love this forum. Now I don't feel so bad about dropping $100 USD at my LHS. Or having 200 unbuilt kits waiting in the basement.

I dropped about $250 at a hobby store in Louisville, Ky. When it comes to spending at shows, that is where I spend the most money. Last year at shows in Indy and Cincinnati, I spent close to $400 at each show.

Believe, me John, when you get older you will, KNOW that when you say its only $400, dollars, women know (they have an in built radar for this sort of thing) its double the price ...its like when they go shopping see what they have bought....ask the price then triple it! Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D].It usually ends in an amicable draw.......unless they get to the card BEFORE you get to the hobby shopShock [:O]Shock [:O].
