I've got several out of production kits (and some of them weren't worth being produced in the first place), but I think the rarest and most sought after might be the 1/72 Hawk F4D Skyray in a triangular box. I'll never build it, but I've also got a bagged one which I thought about building as the first carrier trials aircraft.

The oldest kits I have are an Italeri F1/F2/G from 1974 and two Revell/Italeri kits (one still factory sealed) from 1976. I don't have any kits that would really qualify as rare thus far.

Lemme see here...I have the ol' AMT "Spock Fighting Three-Headed Snake" kit. What was that kit really called? I reckon it's kinda rare and unusual. One of my earliest forays into figure painting, too. I think I did the snake in gold, a-la King Ghidora.

As far as military kits go...hmmm...I have an ancient Renwall M-47 "General Patton II" kit here in the closet...not sure how rare it is.

An old Revell-Germany USS Olympia. Complete with German Instructions.
An old 1960's Airfix "Constant Scale" kit of the HMS Hood
A late 60's; early 70's Lindberg HMS KGV kit.
A 1970 Monogram F4U Corsair
A Lifelike Fairey Flycatcher Kit in 1/48

All currently unbuilt and on my to do list.

I mean this.
A friend of mine just collect them and let them sit on the closet shelf.
When I asked him when you are going to built them he looked me as if I was suggesting robbing a bank.......

cheers Woody, i have the white metal and decals for this big bird, got it bagged with no box and photocopied hand drawn instructions. what do you want for the oxford if you can find it? i'll have a looksee and let you know what i have to exchange.
btw i too have some old frog kits in my stash some old airfix, matchbox and veb plasticart kits

I've got the ancient AMT 1/24 scale 289 Shelby Cobra 3-in-1, 1/32 Tomy Mercedes 300SL and Jaguar SS100, Monogram 1/43 scale Shelby Cobra 289 and the 1967 Corvette convertible, the Accurate Miniatures Mclaren M8B with Bruce McLaren/Denny Hulme decals, an original Monogram 1/9 scale Jaguar XKE,
Not much in the way of rare aircraft though.........

I've got a Renwal Aeroskin F11C-2 Goshawk that's pretty tough to find these days as well as several Aurora P-40's and an Aurora P-6E.

One which has been eluding me for ages is the 48th Revell '1941' P-40 kit. That was only given out as a promo, mostly at the theaters, and is considered by some to be quite the collector's item. Had my chance to grab one on two occasions and missed out because of procrastination.

One of the more unique items which I've had in the past, which I had inherited from my Dad, was the Testors Miss Budweiser Hydroplane. Had two of those, but made a small fortune with 'em on evilbay.

Oh and another hard to find kit I have is a 1/6 Playful Betty Page by Screamin'. As soon as I can find a buyer for that one, though, it's gone...

Made me go look - don't have that many rare kits (three origional issue Revell box scale kits, F-89 Scorpion, D-558 Skyrocket (both recently re-released) and a VW bus (van??) all circa 1955-56. Not so rare in a kit collecting sense, just hard to find now a days are a Matchbox SBD and a Revell Bf-110 E4/B in 1/32. Got a couple of Lindbergh double kits (Bu-133/Me-109 and Magistar/Venom), scale unknow (1/44?) from late 50s. Kit collectors tend to run up the price of older models

G'day Folk's.

I have several rare, 48 kits in my stash, one of each of the Monogram Original [Not Reissued or Classics], Typhoon Ib, B26, TBD-1 Devestator, PBY-5 Catalina, A/B 26 Invader, C47 Skytrain / Dakota and the DC3 Civil Airliner.
Two of the 48 scale Linberg Gloster Gladiator kits.

Greg Contrails put that kit out (with decals and injected parts if I remember correctly). I'll dig around and see if I have an Oxford. I think I had/have a Lincoln release of that kit but don't hold me to it.

I think one of the neatest rare kits in my stash is Model Technologies 1/72 B-2 Bomber kit. Not only is this the only kit they released but it was put out before anybody knew what the tail end looked like. Beautiful vac kit but it looks like a giant black Dorito! Tongue [:P]

I've got a NA-64 Yale; Belcher Bits resin conversion, includes an Occidental Harvard Mk.II in the same box.

Also a Contrail vac form Halifax 1:48 scale.

I've spent some time looking for a '69 Chevy which has apparently been OOP for 30 years ... one guy in the States wanted $150. for his, but that was too rich.

I don't know about "rare", but I've got a couple of LTD Boomerangs which seem to be hard to get hold of, and a Classic Airframe Lancer, which may not be so rare but is listed as discontinued. I don't know how rare an ESCI 1/48 Tempest is, but I've got one of those too and thats the only time I've seen one. The Lancer is gonna be done as an Aussie PR bird btw.

In the queue: 1/48 Beech Staggerwing (RAAF), P38 (RAAF), Vultee Vengeance (RAAF), Spitfire Vb (Malta), Spitfire VIII x2 (RAAF), P39 x2 (RAAF), Martin Baltimore (Malta?), Martin Maryland (Malta), Typhoon NF1b, Hellcat x2 (FAA)
