PE is like Peanuts

Here's my theory:

Is it the taste or is it the amount of work it takes to get 'em into your mouth

Gotta crack the shell, peel the little paper outside, get a grip on that slippery little nut and get it into your mouth
........all without dropping it or shooting it across the room ( sound familiar )
........but all you get is this little taste
........so you grab another because that didn't fill you up
........next thing you know half the bag is gone

but then.....you go back and do it again the next night

So

.......does PE really look that much better ?

Or is it because You work so hard
- you take so much time
- you have to be so careful
-you are so impressed with yourself and the torture you endured
.....you go back and do it again !

Think about it

It all depends on whether you can see it or not!

I only add PE where it leads to a substantial improvement in appearance over the kit parts.

Or where kit parts just don't exist, and their absence would stand out like a sore thumb, ie rudder pedals on aircraft like JU88s & He111s.

Ive only done 1 kit with PE and thats Promodelers Thunderjet. I have a Eduard color zoom for aTamiya P-51D and Ill see how that goes. mostly I build Tamiya and AM kits so as long as I due my part Im still left with a nice model even without PE.

Yeah, because it's work - it's good (maybe that's sick, also)

Also - forgot one thing

That's for the pieces that actually get completed - not rolled up in a ball, flung across the room or glued to the bottom of your shoe

I dunno; I buy shelled peanuts, stuff a handful in my gob, swallow the resulting peanut butter, and pick the debris out of my teeth.

The PE frets are good toothpicks too ...

If used properly, the difference is like night and day. This does not mean that every piece on the fret needs to be used. Some companys put a bunch of useless parts on the fret just to fill it up. Some parts are just about impossible to produce inscale with plastic, this is where PE comes to the rescue. I believe it's a definite asset when used wisely. There is such a thing as "Too much of a good thing".

Hysterical !
That's one train of thought

PE does add to a model. It's better scale and highly detailed.

I was just trying to make some sense of the torture we go through and the effort and we put forth to do it

Sorry - didn't mean to sound so serious - I thought it was an amuzing little comparision

How many times have I tortured myself with PE parts............?
And I keep coming back. Is there something wrong with me? Is there medication for this?

Cheers, LeeTree

Overheard at a show:

"..yes and I find that the dry roasted peanuts really accentuate the looks of the tiger."

"Almonds? You must be in the amateur contest then eh?"

"I wouldn't go for anything less than a walnut on 1:16, but if you can't spend that much a pecan will do fine.."
