Lunch time fix.
Posted by KJ200 on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 7:33 AM
I have just returned from a brief sortie to my LHS during my lunch break, and was wondering if anybody else enjoys a similar quick modelling fix?

You know, that chance to browse at leisure, looking at all those kits waiting to be bought. I don't usually buy much, often just some paint or other supplies, but I love the chance to just go and look.

Yup...although I don't have time for it at lunch...sometimes after work, I'll venture there to peruse what's new (usually not much as it is reall a R/C Racing shop....). I have a similar feeling everytime I walk into a bookstore-- nothing like the smell of new books....

Between work and kids, the rare time I can spend in a hobby shop or book store alone is an event. It takes a minute to acclimate but I could spend hours just browsing.
It's amazing how things change, a few years ago it would be a jazz club, in front of a net (hockey goaltending), a kayak or mountain bike. Now it's a store.

the only time i go to the hobby shop is when my dad is home. and between the time that hes not deployed and mom not wanting to drive an hour and ahalf to the hobby shop. it happens to be a big event for me as well.

Used to, until the store went out of business ... I guess I should have bought a few things instead of just browsed!

Don't you know that is dangerous to fool Robert into thinking something involves food and then it not. Could send him into siezures or something.Big Smile [:D]

Thats one nice thing about my job. i drive around all about town and most of the time I can swing into a shop if I see one. Even got put on a jobsite every now and then right around the corner from one where I could slide over and enjoy looking at kits and soaking up the air conditioning a few times.

I sure do - every time I'm on some work junket or conference in the big smoke, I always visit any hobby shop there is. During lunch, before work, after work - every free moment.

I hope my boss doesn't read this Wink [;)]!

Not during lunch, but I try to get away on a weekend, just for a little while, maybe bring my son along if he wants to go and we just look around at the kits and he makes suggestions on what he thinks I should get next.
A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.

Oh great -

Here I am sitting, eating my lunch at my desk, getting my FSM Forum fix... and some guy reminds me of the days when I could go to a LHS on my lunch hour. Sadly, that shop closed about 2 years ago.

The wound is still there - I think I'm gonna cry.......

Yes my LHS is about 15 minutes walk from the office so I'll go down about once a fortnight. Other lunch times I'll go to the magazine shops or the technical bookstore and browse. Lunch hour tends to be a bit longer on those days!!!

With two LHS about 15 minute away from the office...I can often escape to my fantasy world during lunchbreaks.
