RC/Ertl Buys Playing Mantis (Polar Lights)!

Just in case anyone is unaware, supposedly RC/Ertl have bought Playing Mantis (Johnny Lightning, Polar Lights, etc...). No official word yet but there is a lot of action over on the Polar Lights and Johnny Lightning discussion boards.

Supposedly, there wii be some sort of announcement next week.

Stay tuned.

Wonder how good that is.
Maybe like AMF buying Harley - Davidson?

I understand from a friend of a friend (so don't take me too seriously) that the deal was sealed between PL and ERTL last Thursday.

This was my entire information:

Sorry to say its true the deal was made on Thursday to promote
cash flow to the company.
From what I understand they been running in the red for a while. That’s
why Amt got Paramount’s ok
to buy the license back. On their Sci-Fi line it will say on the box
Amt/Polar Lights. And yes they have plans to
reissue the older versions of the Ertl line. And maybe the UFO Mystery
Ship. With the up coming next two
season of Enterprise will also put them back in the saddle one again. It’s
all about money.

Take this email to me for what it is worth. It might be news or rumor. Playing Mantis and ERTL are not talking to the public. Would you have expected companies to be straight forward in this day and age?

I'll cry in my beer if this rumor is true. Sad [:(]
