Beyond happy about trip to a hobby shop...far far away!
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, June 25, 2004 3:51 PM
Recently, I took a trip to a hobby shop. I was down in Charlotte N.C. visiting family and got a chance to swing by Hobbytown USA.I loved it. I'm from a little town in Ohio and have zero acess to any REAL hobby/model shops! So being in a real MODEL shop was a highly exciting expierence! I bought a kit, a feww detail kits..........and one thing I have wanted for ever!!!!!!!SHEET/STRIP STYRENE!!!!!!!!Ah..... I was really excited and now, I truely have no boundries on what I can build, so here's my way of giving credit where credit is due! Bless you -HOBBYTOWNUSA- (south location)!!!!!!!! That's all.....oh and after about four months of internet silence.......... I'M BACK!!!!!!!!!!! and it feels goooooood!Big Smile [:D]Bye Bye!Tongue [:P]

I know exactly how you feel. We have NOTHING within 6 hours of Midland so I dropped by Squadron when I was in Dallas a couple of weeks ago. They were super!!!!!. Gave me a tour of the place and didn'r even make me put my hands in my pocket while wandering through the stock area. I got a bunch of stuff for a couple of projects I'm working on and will DEFINITELY order from them. If you haven't dealt with them, they are probable the best I've met in a long long time.

They are getting ALL my business from now on.

There are actually two HobbyTowns in Charlotte. If you went to the south Charlotte location thats the same one I go to. Its about 5 minuites from my house. They really do have a nice model section.

God Bless

Glad you had a good experience. I have access to quite a few hobby shops around me, but like many of you I'm certain, I'm always on the lookout for more. Lately, I've been buying off the net much much more, but gotta cut back on that. LHS is having special barbecue this weekend, so maybe I'll find some good deals.

it's frustrating to be so far away from your favorite hobby shop, or any, for that matter.(3 1/2 hours down the interstate) it's so strange having everything laid out in front of you instead of flipping thru the pages of a catalogue. for me, it's not the journey, but the destination.

Same experience for me. Kudos to Hobbytown in Marietta/Kennesaw Georgia!! Although I do have a couple shops with pretty good selections of models and styrene in Jacksonville, FL.
