modelers' disorders

i do suffer on occasion from a speed bump or two......here and there but,
i'm continually motivated to work a project a little bit every day........and when i'm not inspired by what's in front of me........i visit this forum and i'm rejuvenated...........

Gad! I unfortunatly suffer from all three - have for years. Also suffer from a variation of your Disorder #1 (or mayby it's Disorder #4) - When a new kit of something you've wanted for years but no one has produced is announced (in your scale), you can't get anything done until you have one setting on your modeling desk (or at least on order in your name).

I suffer from a lack of motivation, the degree of which is inversely proportional to the amount of work left to do.
In other words, when there's very little left to do, I lose interest.
Why? Probably because once the thing is done, the journey is over. Sure, it's nice to look at, but it really is just another dust collector.
What thrills me is the build - overcoming problems, adding detail, conversions, successfully completing difficult bits......once the final touch is applied, I lose interest.
That's probably why I build so much for other people - I've gotten to build some amazing stuff - that Tamiya 1/16 sclale King Tiger, a couple of Pocher Ferraris (stay away from them - they're awful), 1/48 scale Monogram B-17, B-24, PBY, Verlinden figures.......years worth of work - and nothing to show for it in the display cabinet!! Bugger!

Hey, Nestor! I suffer from all three... But fortunately, for my bank account, #1 isn't that bad...

HI Vino, qmiester,M1abramsRule! Watch out for disoder #1. It's the most virulent of the three. The disorder progresses so rapidly before you know it your bank account might be in the red. Only consolation in #1 is it's positive for the hobby ( to model manufacturers most especially!)

I think you have diagnosed me. I seem to fit in the last one here lately. Somehow I know have 5 projects in one form or the other of being built.

I'm another one with #3 iv'e got 4 on the go at the moment.

So anyone got a cure or what?.............

Viral infections are usually self-limiting so hopefully these modelers' disorders are also temporary ( or else we really gonna need a modeler's medic)

Number 1 took over last year, now I'm suffering from Numbers 2 and 3

hmm, I do tend to have fairly serious bouts of the Number 2 condition. THankfully, I've been successfully coping with the Number 1 condition for the last few weeks, as prior to that, I was completely consumed by it, and unfortunately, so was my bank account.

I am addicted to # 1 and most definately #2..........and progressing quikly on # 3...fortunately though I usually don't make it too far before I lose interest and it usually happens when building cars... so there is no prob putting it back in the box like it would bewith an A/C

I too suffer from all of these.

i am #1but with a problem. i will never have enough kits to satisfy but i dont have the finances to buy all the kits i want.

I suffer from #1 and #3 but not #2 because I don't consider myself an advanced modeler.

I have a terrible case of #3 but I promised myself "NO NEW KITS!!!!" until some of the unfinished ones were finished. My #1 affliction isn't really that bad becuase of lack of funds.

Is there an HMO or PPO I can sign up with for any of these? Do I need a referral?
