I've bought six kits in the last year, two for group builds of which one is under construction, two because I was interested in the subjects of the models and one 120mm Fiqure.

Sad [:(]She who must be obeyed has now placed an embargo on any future kit purchases this year until at least four of these kits are completedSad [:(].

This probably has a lot to do with the uncompleted fiqure kits that appeared when packing for my last move. (Shock [:O] just don't know where they came from)
Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.

Yep, that is always my plan as I now stare at a dozen or so in various states of completion Big Smile [:D] what can I say I have the attention span of a gerbil Blush [:I]

I guessed 30-50, probably closer to the high end. I kind of fell out of modeling around high school (84-86), got back in briefly during the 91 gulf war (built an Abrams, Bradley and an armored 4x4 Porsche 911 armed with a Vulcan Tongue [:P] ), then again fell out of the hobby until the late 1990's when I bought a few 1/72 scale armored vehicles and a 1/25 scale F-350 whch I started building into the fire engine I was a Captain on, then agian fell out of building until last summer when I bought a 1/35 Cromwell, thats when I discovered the impact the internet had on modelling, I've been hooked since, I built some armor in group builds over at Armorama.com, then I started at a new department and one of the guys was into building fire apparatus, that inspired me to pull that Ford F-350 out of the closet and finish it, at about the same time I found an emergency vehicles group build going on over at scale auto, as a result I started scratch building more fire apparatus resulting in the purchase of many automotive models, then most recently I got hooked on building air tankers (for the emergency vehicles build here) and went wild probably buying 6-8 kits just the past month. I don't think I will continue to buy at that rate but I was making up for lost time (now I need to find that time to get them all built).

You know, I've been to only one show, and I found a bunch of very good stuff for fairly cheap. I really wish there were more shows up here, as it seems to be a really good way to find deals.

I have bought close to 30 kits, not including accessories, p/e sets, resin conversions, figure sets, etc. I do most of my purchasing at hobby shows around the midwest. I have been to one show in march and will go to three more shows this fall. Two shows are in Ohio and the third will be a show in Chicago. I expect to end up with between 50-70 new kits and aftermarket stuff by the end of October.

Buying on e-bay is definetly a hit and miss deal. Some good buys, some bad. I only buy things I have an interest in. Been good overall, but ya have to watch the shipping charges, some guys use it to make an extra buck.

Before last Christmas, I had nothing. I hadn't built anything in 20-odd years. Since then I have received two kits as gifts, and bought two more (all armour). I also bought tools, stuff for painting, two airbrushes, a compressor, and some Accurate Armor and Verlinden aftermarket stuff. I generally don't buy unless I want to build it some time soon.

therriman:
I only started buying kits on e-bay a little while ago, bought a few, got s%*$#@# for a few, and decided not to go e-bay again. If you're in the US it's a great thing, but shipping to Canada seems to be fairly expensive from anywhere, so I haven't found good deals.

sadly only two purchased since '99......
i've only recently had to make some rather unpleasant decisions to pare my amassed collection of some 275 kits down to around 30 due to my re-location over here........
gone are 3 Trimaster kits.........3 of the first production Accurate Miniatures early Mustangs........etc....etc....etc........
had every intention of building everyone of them but, @ 6 mos. (avg.) per kit........well i did the math..........&.....lol......i'd be Dead [xx(] well before many of them would even be started...........sooooooooooooo.......

I puirchased about 12, completed only 1. I have 4 others in various stages. I fully intend to build all, even my wingy thingies.

I've bought about 25 or 30 kits (I'm afraid to count). Most on e-bay.

well. due to circumstances beyond my control i have only bought about ten kits, i have built three to completion, two to almost completion, two in stages of progress, and five are unbuilt. yes there are two extras, they were both given to me. in the next year i want to build up a stock so i have some choices.

In May of 2003, I had zero kits - none, nada, zip. Then I bought one kit (Tamiya Tiger I Early) at my LHS and built it. I was hooked (or rather rehooked).

Between July of last year and now, I have purchased over 150 model kits, about 30 1/35 figure sets, over 50 resin conversion or diorama kits, about 20 sets of aftermarket tracks, over 100 PE sets, and over 40 turned aluminum barrels. Nearly all of these purchases were made between July 2003 and April 2004. I retired on 1 May and income has dropped to half what I made before. Since then, I have only purchased 8 kits and no aftermarket stuff at all. My "stockpiling" days are over and now I can just focus on building.

Enjoy your modeling...

I've bought about 75, but that was a result of very unusual circumstances. First, I sold every completed model I had because I moved to a different state & knew that my collection would never survive the move. Second, I had the money to buy all these kits because I sold my home in California & at the same time received a large settlement from an accident in which I broke my leg. I bought all these kits within the space of about 2 months but have since slowed down because I've pretty much completed my collection of what I consider to be kits of the most historically significant military aircraft (not to mention the fact that I've spent most of the money!). From now on I plan on buying
fewer than 10 kits a year.

How many kits have you bought in the last year?
Posted by zokissima on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 12:07 PM
I was never much of a hoarder in any sense of the word. When I got into armour modelling, somehow all that changed. I'm about to have my annual trip to a cabin (one month left to go) where I will have peace, quiet, my gf, nature, and plenty of time to build!
I remember last year comming back from this trip and purchasing the Trumpeter Faun panzertransporter. Since then, I've amassed 40 unbuilt kits, plus a few that I've even managed to build Smile [:)]
I was just curious about others out there. How many kits did you buy in the last year?
