It must be for larger markets. Here in Albany, NY our Michael's modelling stuff is pathetic. Basic Testor's paints and brushes, A few token kits and that's about it. Not even worth going back to again. Heck, even the local AC Moore has more stuff. Like airbrush equipment, more models, more supplies. etc..

Sorry to hear about your job - I've been there - it's not fun.
But just around the corner is something unexpected. It always happens that way. You'll find a new job, and you'll wonder why you stuck it out at the old job for so long.

I think it's a hit or miss thing, depending on the store. Some I've been to have a decent selection, though it's mostly cars. Others, not so much. Just a few kits and some Testors paint and tube glue. But, your milage may vary...

Ah yes, Michael's. Last time I walked into a Michael's, I walked out with Monogram's 1/48 B-24D. That was about 15 years ago!
They had a good selection of kits and supplies back in those days, so it's good to hear they're still maintaining a decent modelling section.

I agree with Daprophet - Michael's is a great place to stock up on supplies, and in a few instances, kits. Those 40% off coupons are great! Take a half hour or hour to browse the store, and you can find all kinds of useful things.

I got my airbrush at Micheals to. $160 set for $40, can't beat that.

They also stock airbrushes.
That is where I got my Paasche a few years back.

Michael's is a less expensive place for many things used on a modeling bench. Paint brushes, exacto knives, polishing cloth, tweezers, pipe cleaners (for airbrush cleaning), thinners, all kinds of odds and ends in the jewelry making section for scratch building details. I am sure there are tons of other things there that I have failed to mention including an ok selection of auto kits if you like cars. They also run a 40% off coupon every couple weeks or so. I grabbed Revell's F-15E there this weekend for $14 bucks with the coupon. Take a walk through, you will find many many things that are handy to have around the bench. Hobby Lobby sells a good deal of these items for less than a model shop will as well.

Indeed, list anything useful in Michaels. I go to that place here and there, but it's a little bit overwhelming for me, and the people working there don't seem to know much about anything except sewing. I know that they have to have all sorts of useful things, but I can never get myself to actually stick around long enough to find out.

Sorry to hear the bad news. But what did you find in Michaels? I just (re-)started modeling and am still collecting tools.

I seem to never find anything when I have money, yet I find tons of stuff when the wallet is empty! How does that work?
