                        ...or unfinished kit?

                        This is the kit you want to build or even finish, yet you feel intimidated by it for some reason or another. There it sits, as though laughing at you and saying "You'll never finish me!" Evil [}:)]


                        Mine is the Eldar Vampire Raider (GW Warhammer 40K). It's a fairly large heavy all resin kit kit. No instructions or anything. Looks like some major structure work -- especially to keep it from falling apart.

                        Dragons Bishop S.P. still is sitting there and will be there for awhile.It really erked me with parts that did not match right and the colors I painted it.Made a few mistake with it but fixed them and is still there calling to me to finish it.It has taken over my mind[or whats left of it],wish I could get the voices out of my head-hsinif,hsinif,hsinif....Must get glue,must get glue,must get glue[get a life,get a life,get a wife]HELP ME.Digger

                        Now this one's easy: Tamiya's 1/16 Tiger I (static kit) with the full Aber PE set.

                        It's the Aber set that makes it intimidating! I understand the Tamiya kit itself is a dream to build, but since I plan on putting every ounce of my modeling skills and as much of the Aber set as possible into the project, as well as whatever other detailing is necessary to make it the best model I possibly can, it remains the most feared box in the closet!

                        One day, it shall be done, though.

                        This is a no brainer for me...Tamiya's Dragon Wagon. In addition to the kit itself, I have three sets of PE: Vehicle exterior, Vehicle interior, and the Trailer. It's going to be a monster whenever I decide to tackle it.

                        There are a couple close seconds though:

                        Tamiya's Tiger I Late with the Eduard PE exterior set and three Verlinden sets: Interior, Engine Compartment, and Exterior details.

                        Tamiya's Famo with Trailer including the Eduard PE set for the Famo and both of Aber's PE sets for the Trailer.

                        Actually I have two, the Tamiya Swardfish and the Revell Snowberry.

                        The Swardfish has been sitting for about two years. I want to do a great job on it as its my favoret biplane but my skills just arn't up to the task to do it justies.
                        The Snowbery is it's size. I have had it for over three years now. Not only do I need the pace to build it but a place to berth it afterwards. I build a wall bookcace in our guest room some years back with it in mind but by the time it was finished all the books and my wifes teddy bears have taken up all the shelves. I'm planning on building more shelves and cupboards in what we call the Office. That might aleviate the space problem but I some how dought it.

                        Actually the bane of my modeling world is a Heller 1/150 windjammer, Le Glorieux. I have the hull and decks complete for over four years now but the masts and rigging - they just taunt me, get it? Taunt? Maybe some day I will work on it again but for now I would rather abuse myself with a Sanger Vac kit.

                        The most intimidating kit's I have are the new Tamiya 1/24 scale Williams fw24(i think), and an old SW star destroyer with all the fibre optics WHERE DO YOU BEGIN !!!!! and then with the soldering on a plastic model AAAAHHHH!!!!!.

                        i would say that the king tiger from dml/dragon is very intimidating to me. all those independent track links. but intimidating doesnt mean i wont do it.

                        Got an old Revell Cutty Sark - 1/96 I think. Had it for 20 years and it still intimidates me.

                        Great thread David. In my collection, I'd say the Dragon Stug III, just because there are so many indy tracks and I have to zim her up. I'm not saying I can't do it, just that it is the hardest build in my collection.

                        The Polar Lights Enterprise NX-01 looks pretty intimidating and I'll be buying it soon. The build doesn't look too bad, but the amount of masking that needs to be done in order to get the right look is going to be crazy. On the other hand, the 1701-A coming soon should be a lot easier since it's pretty much one tone.

                        That's an easy one. A Hasegawa 1/72 F-111F Aardvark that I've been sitting on for about ten years. I think I'm most intimidated by the camouflage scheme, even though I've done others similar. But it's my favorite jet bomber and it makes me uneasy just to take the sprues out of the box.

                        That's easy, High Planes BAE Hawk 127 RAAF Lead In Fighter. This is a limited run kit that I bought as soon as it came out.

                        The Armo 1/35th resin PT-76. There is only one page of instructions (the exploded view type) and a lot of little parts, both resin and p/e. If only Armo had added a few pages of instructions, I would have built the kit by now. Did I mention the instructions are illustrated by hand and not done very well? Shock [:O]

                        For me, it's not the kit that will be challenging. That will be fairly easy to build (Trimaster Me 262). The challenge comes when I try to replicate this camouflage scheme.

                        I want to see this one on my shelf ! Soon !

                        While stationed in Hawaii, I visited the USS Missouri on several occasions. I picked up Kangnam's 1/400 scale kit and it has sat in the box for 3 years now. I love to get it out, look at it, fondle its hull, caress its big guns and dream of what could be. Then I think about all of that masking, sweating, and cussing and it gently get put back in its box. While home on leave, I shipped all of my unbuilts over here and Mo came with them. I'll bet a months pay I ship it back unbuilt.

                        AMT American Lafrance Pumper. After doing the matching ladder truck and all the problems it had I can only imagine the same stuff that went into the pumper. It will get done though.

                        well mine isn't that daunting a kit its just that i have been building it for years - 20 to be exact -and its a frog Avro Shackleton the trouble is that it shows my earlier skill (or lack of) level and it gets better as the build went on and it really shows ( i am not saying i am all that good now but i am better than i was when i was 18 when i started it). i also have a revell 1/72 B52 and revell 1/32 hunter to do but i don't want to start these untill i feel my skill level is at a stage where i can do these kits justice.

                        I have to say right now it's the Trumpter LCM landing craft that I just got. The only reason it's a little intimidating is because it's not a tank and I'm not real shore what colors to use and how to weather it.

                        I'd have to say it's my Tamiya Swordfish (the float version). The build itself is daunting, but the thought of rigging that thing makes my palms sweat just thinking about it.

                        i couldn't say that i have an itimidating build in my stash. i've overlooked them all and they seem to be decent kits. i, like keyworth, am intimidated by rigging. i'm gonna start with the humble anntenae wire from the top of the vertical fin to the upper fuselage antennae. i dont know any better i don't guess!! i do have an AM TBM-1 that i'm saving until i get better at this hobby though. later.

                        1/25 Castrol Mugen Honda NSX by Tamiya. It's the decals and paint that are going to be a pain, which is why I keep buying other kits to distract myself from it.
