How do you use these forums?
Posted by David Voss on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 1:17 PM
I know some people use the Active Topics link while others read only specific forums. If you don't use the Active Topics link, which forums do you usually read and have you ever ventured into others?

Myself, I always use Active Topics. It displays all new / active topics since my last visit. Not that I read them all, but at least I get a quick overview of what's new.

Hey David,

I also use the Active Topics Link, but I never, ever use the "Today's Active Topics" side of the link. I always use the "Since Last Visit" side.

Every once and a while I'll go directly to a Forum where I need to see something (like a GB Forum) or will do a Forum Search (now that it's working properly), but 99% of the time, I enter as stated above.

Enjoy your modeling...

I usually just click on my favorite Forum, Aircraft in my case, & see whats been going on. Then I scroll down the other Forums to see if there is anything of interest. I rarely use the Active Topic link.

Another quick question...for anyone that clicks on their favorite forums, do you ever click on the Announcements forum? Which would get quicker notice, posts in Announcements or posts in General Discussion?

I'm wondering if there are people who will never see this question. Wink [;)]

i dont think i've ever even visited the Announcement forums!! i usually go to my favorite forums. i'll say that i'd notice something in this forum sooner than the Announcements forum. occasionally, i'll click on the "Active topics" icon to see what activity has transpired since my last visit. later.

I usually bounce back and forth between odds & ends, and aircraft. If there is not a lot happening, I will check a few of the other forums to see if there is something I can contribute to them.

I always go to the forums/topics that I'm interested in. After that it's on to the General discussion, etc.

I go to active topics or OT then Sci-Fi if I've been gone for a bit. After I've seen the new stuff I bounce between Sci-Fi, A/C, and OT.

I first scroll through the "Last Posts" to see what subjects had been posted/answered, and click on them if it is a subject that interests me. Then I click Armor, then General Model Discussion, the Odds and Ends, followed occasionally by Helicopters, Sci Fi, and ships in roughly that order. I only go to "Dioramas" when I see something in the "Last Post" that intrigues me, or I need to know how to do some scenery.

I almost always go to my favorite first, which is armour, unless i've posted a question somewhere else.

Favorites first (armor) followed by O&E, then General Discussion, depending on time. If I have a lot of time, I will also wander through the Techniques sections as you never know what turns up there. Tongue [:P]

I don't think i've really used the active topics thingie! I just browse through my favorite forums: Aircraft, OT, General. Sometimes I'll have a question about, say painting, so i'll visit the Painting and Airbrushing forum... especially if i started a topic i there. Big Smile [:D]

The little spare time I have I divide between modeling and sneaking into this forum so I click directly to Aircraft and General Modeling Discussions.

I just go to my specific forums - autos and group builds then to General Discussion or Odds and Ends. I didn't even know there was an "active forum". As for "announcements" - never.

Aircraft, GBs, Airbrushing, OT.

That's the general pattern.

Wasn't even aware that there was an Active Topic tab!

I start out in the Armor Forum, then work my way into Odds and Ends, then finish up in General Modeling Discussion. Usually the same way everyday. If one of my favorites is a bit slow, I'll sneak into the Aircraft Forum or Dio's.
