Im with blackwolf, but i did just find a new hobby shop(not new, just that i havent been there), but a hobby lobby would be nice for all of those little cheap things that you guys are always talking about.

Go ahead and rub it in. The nearest Hobby Lobby to me is 100 miles away.

HEY,
Ya well the closest Hobby Lobby to me is about 7 states away, probably about 1000 miles, atleast. Yep, nothing like that around here. Some craft stores but none of them carry models.

Lucky SOB Big Smile [:D]
There used to be a National Hobby, I guess it's something like a Hobby Lobby, but it closed a while ago. Really irritates me, because they too apparently had a half-off sale.

I got four shops in my area...at least I think four....NE way, two are way the hell a ways, (20 miles or somethin. man I cant wiat til I cna drive....) and of course they r the ones that carry the after market and cheap stuff. the other two ar damn near on top of ewach other, but one carrys mainly R/C stuff, while the other has everythn under the sun. trains, cars, diecasts, metal figs from Britain's, books, toys, crafts, dollhouses.... cept after market, gggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! and, of course, all their models are way the hell up there price wise. I found a small anti-tank gun there last year. I've seen it in mags for 5-6 bucks. they have it for 25!! course u can tell its a misprint, but the clerks havent changed it yet. bummer

Wyoming!!??!?!!!??! Mike u gotta be kiddin me!! I see ads for model shops on the West Coast all the time. they're everywhere.

NEways, just be glad u dont live in New York City, their situation there is embarassing. I've been down there a good number of times, and, get this, I've looked in their phone books......there are more garden and plant shops, than there are model shops. and this is in a city!! now u know why they never seem to post about hobby shows in New York. weird. u'd think that in a place where modeling would appear to be a cheaper more economical hobby, and by far more interesting hobby than other possibilities, it would thrive, but its almost unheard of.

one of the shops I was in was about 10 feet wide, 30-or-so feet deep, and range from 8-15 feet high. it was crammed with models, boht kits and ones the owner built. they've now moved, but their new location is still pretty small, not much larger actually, but cleaner.

That's interesting ... they just did that exact same thing here in Nashville. Wonder if Hobby Lobby and Walmart have some sort of arrangement going. Our new one opens on Monday and is about 10 miles closer than the other two (yes, TWO) around here.

Chemman the prophet sez you won't have long to wait after hobby lobby gets there until you again have only one hobby shop. If the other shop is a "local", it's only a couple of half price sales from extinction.

Ahh, yes. Those wonderful half-off sales. I just picked up a P-38J and a B-29 in 1/48. And, you have access to all the other little things that aren't normally sold in the LHS, all in one place! Isn't life great!
