Tell me what to build!
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, July 29, 2004 8:44 AM
I have uncovered a bit of stash from my parents attic, and having just got back into things am looking for a project to start with. The following is a list of the Model Kits which I have unearthed, all Pre-1980 kits. I'll let the forum decide by taking an informal Poll. Starting today 7/29 & going till 8/5 I will keep tabs of what the forum viewers think and start with the Kit which gets the most votes...

1. Dassault Mirrage III, Revell, 1/32, ca 1973
2. Lockheed T-33A Shooting star, Hasegawa, 1/72, age unknown
3. Panzerspahwagen Sd. Kfz. 232, Monogram, 1/32, ca 1974
4. Stug IV Assault gun, Revell/Italaerei, 1/35, ca 1977
5. S.A.S. land Rover Pink Panther, tamiya, 1/35, age unknown
6. '56 Chevy, Revell, 1/25, ca 1973
7. "Boondocker" Chevy Blazer, AMT, 1/25, age unknown
8. Corvette " Mako Shark" motorized, AHM/Bandai, 1/20, from the Sixties(?)

Well you be the judge, Vote now!!! Cool [8D]Confused [%-)]Confused [%-)]Confused [%-)]

Also, anyone think that these are collectors items & wants to make me an offer, I'm all ears! Huck.Approve [^]Approve [^]

Get the AMT kit out of the way first.

If you've been out of the game for a while you don't want to risk blundering on something like that 1/32 Mirage kit.

Needless to say, I'm not an AMT fan.

Well they are just starting to come in, but here is how the voting is stacking up:

1. T-33A shooting star with 2 votes
2. '56 Chevy with 1.5 votes
3. Panzerspahwagen, Stug IV, & Boondocker Blazer all with 1
4. and no love for the Dassault Mirrage, Pink Panther, or Mako Shark!

Keep those votes rolling in, a mans hobby depends on it[:0][:0][:0]

For those thoughtful enough to post a reply, Big Thanks!

My vote would go to Panzerspahwagen. You don't see too many 1/32 Monogram kits. Where'd you score that?

i would say do one of the auto kits. they give you more leeway for making mistakes. then you can tackle the others.

The Italeri Stug. Save it for the upcoming Stug Group Build next month. It will be a great way to learn new things.

Hmmm, though I don't build in 1/32 and i'm not such a big fan of revell, i still like the Mirage III... I have no idea what the kit is like, but it sounds awfully cool! Big Smile [:D]

Before you get down to working on these, do yourself a favor. If the kits are complete and in the boxes are in good shape, find a collector's site on the net. You could be sitting on a small fortune, since at least a few of these are way out of production, and for sure the Monogram armored car hasn't been around for ages.
the cars, as well, could be quite valuable and car model collectors do pay premium prices for rarities.

Voting Update: (this is kinda fun!!! what have I been missing all these years!)

1. Panzerswahgen and Stug IV tied with 3 apiece
3. '56 Chevy with 2.5 votes
4. T-33A & Boondocker Blazer both have 2
6. Bringing up the rear with 1 vote each are the Mirage III, Pink Panther, and Corvette.

Couple of good responses have me intrigued as well, I will be looking into the Stug group build on the advice of Tigerman, and in response to ajlafleche(can we call you Al, ..."You can call me Al" - Paul Simon - I would certainly like some threads on where to buy and sell old model kits, I am already registered on E-Bay but are there any others?

Thanks again for all of the input! I'll keep you posted so check back to see how things are progressing. HuckApprove [^]Approve [^]
