After spending weeks and months accurizing all those kits on your workbench, have you ever given in to the urge (or even had the urge) to take a kit and glue and simply slap it together like you did when you were a just a kid? (Some of you still are, so this question doesn't apply to you
).
I did. I'm primarily an armor modeler, but I got the urge, grabbed an old Monogram F-something-or-other airplane, cut everything from the sprue and just glued it all together. Took me about an hour to finish it. Looked pretty bad. Didn't care. Fortunately, I was able to give it to my son, and he loved playing with it. But I found it almost cathartic in a strange sort of way: no pressure to fill seams, sand mold marks, or paint it just so. Just pure, unadulterated, living-in-the-past kind of fun.
Of course, with the price of kits being what they are now, I don't do this regularly.
What about you
Ever built one just for the "fun" of it
Am I insane, psychotic, neurotic, or just crazy?
