Yesterday I purchaed Minicraft's 1:144 scale DC3 and when I got home and opened the box I noticed that one of the prop blades had broken off. I haven't taken the wrapping off of the model itself, just the box. I checked Minicraft's excellent Dead [xx(] website and there is no email addy, just a 1-800 number. Here is my question. Do I:

1) Take the model back to the hobby shop that I bought it from?

Or

2) Call Minicraft and see what they will do?

If the blade is in the package, like above, glue it on. If it is totally missing, try the 800 number, and as a last resort, bring it back to the store.

cut the chase and go to the store. they will deal with the distributor. ask for a new kit, should not be a big problem

........go back to the LHS and exchange it for one that is in the proper condition, let the LHS deal with MiniCraft as will probably be MiniCraft's advice.........or
repair it........
i've a B-314 from Glencoe with two broken props.......1/144.....
the LHS is toast so, i've got to repair.....

If the inner bag is still sealed as you say then the LHS should be able to take care of it for you. If you've opened the inner bag then you will have to contact Minicraft. Then if you want you could always glue it back on. Big Smile [:D]

if it was me i would say just glue the piece. if it was totally missing take it back.

Like the above have said glue it if it is repairable. If not I would take it back to the LHS. If you called the manufacturer you could be a while getting the replacement part. The next gamble is if USPS could get it to you all in one piece. I speak from experience. I had bought a 1/48 hornet from Squadron, the canopy was shattered. I called Squadron and got a replacement on its way. After a month of waiting guess what showed up at mail call, a shattered replacement canopy. Oh well, I guess I get an AM canopy when I get back to the world.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] on the above. It it's not warped, and just broken off, glue it back on. Otherwise, get yourself a new kit.

Return it to the store without opening the inner wrap or attemting to repair it. The product was defective and the reattachement point in this scale is tiny. The store will be able to get satisfactio from its distributor and them from the manufacturer. If the store is not willing to make good by a loyal customer (you are a loyal customer, right?) let them know their short sightedness has cost them a loyal customer.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
