3,5,6. I spend about 3 nights a week away from home and when I get back there is either a list of chores or I'm too tied. However I also have a problem of suddenly wanting to do some other model so I've got many partially built kits and occassionally I get the urge to finish one rather than start another. Even still I manage to get about 10 -12 finished a year (although this year is not turning out very well - 2 so far).

Heres my reasons for not being able to finish a build.
1) After work come home eat and help the three kids with homework.
2) Monday nights is my Billiards (Pool) night.
3) Tuesday and thursdays is all threes kids' soccer practice.
4) Wednesday nothing but the honey do list.
5) Friday Honey do list again.
6) Saturdays are 2 kids soccer games and honey do list some more.
7) Sundays is honey do list some more and football.

I think that sums up my problem right now. Bryan

For me mostly: Family & Too Tired.

Plus, I also hate to prep parts like sanding mold seams of resin-parts, etc.
So I tend to sand a little build a lot on other cheaper throwaway Kits, and a bit build a lot .....

'Cause the #$@&^% kit is missing parts, like my Alan ZIS-5 truck with NO WHEELS! Great, anybody ever contact them in St Petersburg? I didn't think so......

For me it's the desire to make the build as perfect as possible. So any shortfall results in delays ( need to redo things, make additional research, get additional items, and the need to muster enough inspiration to go back to the build). Then there's #4, 5 ( it's the eyes that gets tired easily now), & 6.

The main reason why I don't finish my builds (I usually do, but sometimes I don't) is because I loose intrest in what I'm doing. It will be cool and all in the begining, but as I go on it gets boring and looses it's intresting value. So I set it aside untill I've got nothing left to work on and then I pull it out, dust if of and continue where I left off.

ROFLMAO Scottrc!!!! thats my biggest problem, I start out with high hopes and high expectations. And the next thing I know Im in the fricken hobby shop buying something else and shazam, Ive started on the one I just bought. The best way for me to finish a model is to build for a contest. For some crazy reason I have a deadline and I can get a kit done.

So many interests, so little time. Start one, lose interest, start another, lose interest, start another, lose interest, start another, lose interest, start another, lose interest, ....................................................Then lose parts, lose instructions, lose workbench, then lose mind.Confused [%-)]

I agree with this poll! I'll have to admit that procrastination is probably the biggest....hold on. I'll be right back.

I thought I had suddenly found myself in the Eastern Bloc circa 1955 Wink [;)]

For me it has to be, in this order:

Family 3 kids aged between 3 & 8.
Work I have to shout alot!
Too tired due to both the above!
Procrastination. I don't know why!

I currently have 3 builds on the bench, two are in the painting stage, which I always find takes a long time, the problem with multi-colour Luftwaffe camo, and one which promises to be a long term project, due to the volume of PE, resin, scratch building, and rescribing of all the raised panel lines!

I have found having several kits on the go actually leads to me achieving more, perverse I know, but you have to understand I have the attention span of a goldfish.

So with two kits approaching completion in the next month, I have asked my LHS to lay aside something for next month!

LOL I guess that in a way would apply to most of us. Yes, I do have some time in the afternoon and for the most part have used it wisely of late to get a build within the proverbial "Light at the end of the tunnel". I hope to finish up two more builds before the end of the year. Christmas is drawing near and we modelers know what that means. Tongue [:P]

Wish I could say procrastination, as that would imply that I actually have time to build models.
Well, actually, right now I do. And it really peeves me off, since my house is being remodeled, and I haven't got even a square foot of space to work, but all the time in the world, which of course is bound to change to no time but pleanty of space.

1,2,4,5,6,7. The other beening college and soccer. I go to college two night a week and play soccer two nights a week. I have a girl friend who want's me to bring her places and then there are friends to keep in tuch with. I think I get about 4 to 6 hours of modelling a week in two hour slots.

Other?

I hate sanding seams. I sand and sand, and they just dont disappear. So, I take the next one to that point, and the next, until I'm covered in unfinished kits.

Reggie hit on a big one with me... I zone... not necessarily just dreaming on what I can do to make this one a little better... but thinking back on something that happened at work while I'm sitting at the bench... etc...

And the other cirikili hit right on... I think I am at a stage I am not happy with just another model.. I wanna build each one high tech.. in fact I hit on it this last weekend... I am going to buy me one of those skill level 2 Revell jobs and just slap it together to get a quick build in.. I think with all the resin and PE and stuff, and the drying stages I get frustrated that it is not coming together... a completion would be satisfying..

yes, interesting 'dictatorial' type of poll..! My problems is that I do not have enough patience and above all I get sidelined too easily. That's buying too much reference books and mags for you!

ROFL!!!!!

Sorry just reminds me of a few of the polls I tried to post quite some time back!

Hmmmmmm
Well I would say #3 used to be a big reason.....that and FRUSTRATION!

Hopefully most of that's all changed now though.

No it is not embarrassing. Actually I thought that you did it on purpose for emphasis.

And since you broadenned the list...I have to say

4. Family & 5. Too tired.

Although you might say that I am fast with my works...there are some times when I could not sit on the workbench for a week or so. It happens to us all...I guess.
