I am still waiting for a credit or a check from Great Models from 5 years ago. For some reason, they thought I needed a T-34 kit. I don't do armor (would like to someday). After many Email and phone calls, I mailed the kit back to them. They acknowledged receipt and said they would credit my credit card. More phone call, Emails. No credit, then rudeness. I am sure I have spent 5 to 10 times what they owe me since, but not with Great Models. Now Sprue Bros get almost 100% of my business.

I sent in an order on Christmas morning. When I reviewed their confirmation Email, I realized I had ordered two of something that I really wanted one of. Sent Gorden an Email asking him to correct my mistake. Within half an hour, Gorden had corrected my error and sent me a revised order confirmation. This was on Christmas Day!  Next day, received notice that the order was shipped complete - nothing backordered. With service like that, why go anywhere else.

My experience with them has been more not good than good. I learned a long time ago to only order items listed as "in stock", and even then, they had about a 50% hit rate (i.e. I order 10 items listed as in stock and only 5 were shipped). Now I think they have a new listing "on hand" which has a much better hit rate.

I tend to only order their clearance items now. If I really "have to have" something, I order it from Squadron.

I was left with a sufficiently bitter taste in my mouth that I will no longer be buying from them. YMMV.

I had a simular experience to the point they got rude with me for putting a stop payment on my credit card. before that, I was a $1000+ a year customer too.  I'm sorry, but there is still a lot more competetion where I decided to take my business.

Outside of Squadron the best there is for speed and reliability... And if you go by stock level, a strong second to Hannants in my humble opinion.

Cheers, Matt

As of right now I have order from squadron shop and later will give greatmodels a try.I seen that they are cheaper then squadron but when it come s to ordering paints, the squadron shop has them beat due to there color chips that they put on the web.As for kit prices greatmodels has the squadron shop beat in prices and selection.I have seen kits that have been out of production that greatmodels still have in there wharehouse for sale. This is great for me and when I get to ordering kits again will go to them.Digger

Well, it appears that mine is the sole dissenting opinion, but I had a bad experience on my first order and haven't given them a second chance.

I ordered a photo-etch folding value pack type of set that consisted of a folding tool, rolling set, and cutting set. Each of these three components were offered separately on their site, but they were also packaged together for a discount.

When I evenutally got my order, I only received the folding tool, but was charged the price of the set. I requested that the other two components be sent out to me and was told that it was not possible. Emails started going back and forth during which I was told I was being difficult for requesting this. The only options given to me were to return what I received (a hassle I didn't feel like dealing with) or to take a store credit for the difference between the stand alone tool and the package price.

I opted for the credit, used it to buy the rolling set, and haven't shopped there since. In my opinion, there are just too many other options to choose from on the internet. . . .

Hit and miss, but they usually fix the problem with no hassels. If it isn't in stock, be prepared to wait.

You may have to wait for some items that are not 'in-stock'. Patience being the key here.
I've ordered somewhere between $1000 and $1500 worth of stuff from them over the last two and 1/2 years without much problems from them! My wife on the other hand....well?!

Digger,

Great and great (IMHO).

If you pay attention to the "stock status" for the items you're buying, there is usually no problem. I love the fact that I can order a boat load of products and then request delivery of just the "in stock" items without having to wait for the special orders to come in.

I've ordered over $8,000 in products from Greatmodels and have never been disappointed. Hope this helps.

Enjoy your modeling...
