YES!!! another long standing gap in my collection filled!

So there I am yesterday, I found another good model shop here in Brno so I start looking around and my eye drifts across a model of something I've wanted in my collection for almost a decade. An Aero 45!

For those who don't know what that is, its an early post war Czech built civil aircraft, a later development was the Aero 145 with uprated engines.

The kit is by A Model and is typical limited run stuff and requires some work, but I understand Pavla has an aftermarket vac form canopy and some resin stuff for it, so no problem there. I also understand that A Model has a kit of the 145 as well so I'll have to keep watch for that. The kits are 1/72.

Here's a pic of an Aero 45, I loved the looks of it the first time I saw a picture of one 10 years ago and decided I must have one in my collection.

Anyone else have a story about finding that long elusive "must have" in your collections? How long did it take you to find it? How did you finally find it?

Should be some interesting stories here I hope.

Mine wasn't that exciting. I'd been keeping an eye on ACE's homepage, and when they announced the release of the 1/72 scale T-72, I went out and snatched one up, along with about 11 other kits.

Congratulations on your find. Always great to find that long awaited kit. Two on my list are being filled with the Grand Phoenix 1/48 Demon & the Trumpeter 1/48 Vigilante.

Hey, man.......
Great score! That Aero 45 is actually a very pretty little plane - I love the round nose and the curved canopy.

The kit takes a bit of research.

The kit I bought is marked as a 145 on the box but the engine cowl details are clearly those of the earlier 45, easy fix though.

I got my hands on the Pavla vac form canopy proper to the 145. I'd say its a neccesity as Amodel molded the kit canopy too wide.

I found a lot of photos of a restored German registered 145 on the net that happens to be on the kit decal sheet. Its the aircraft in the picture I posted at the top of this thread.

If any of you ever travel to the Czech Republic and come by air, take not of the preserved Aero 45 hanging in the arrival hall of Prague's Ruzenye Airport, its a little beauty.

Now, for those other gaps....

Somebody, please, a 1/32 injection molded Beech D-17 Staggerwing in my lifetime!

Okay, I know it is absurd, but I would love to build a 1/48 xb-70. I've been in love with that plane for years. Conceding that the the 48 scale would be impractically large (I have no idea where I would put it) I'd settle for a reissue of the old 1/72 AMT kit from the 70's.

Yep, a 1/48 Valkyrie would be nice. Impractically large perhaps, but that didn't stop Aeroclub from puting out a 1/48 Avro Vulcan a couple of years back. :-)

The American bomber I want more than any is a 1/48 B-45 Tornado, any version standard bomber or later recon, I don't care, that was a nice looking bird that deserves injection molded attention. I know Mach 2 has one in 1/72, I checked it out in my LHS and I wouldn't touch it on a bet, flash everywhere and still bizarrely expensive with the discount the shop is offering.
