I plead "guilty"Ashamed [*^_^*] I guess if since quit running around, drinking, smoking, and causing mayhem, I replaced those vices with model building, but I seem to be more buying than building, which, may be on impulse.

Yikes! that means I'm an addict!Shock [:O]

Wonder if they'll make a patch for styrene addictions?

mahoneyman, that really hits home. If my life was plotted on a graph, it would have been on the upswing for the last year or so. But you never know what the future holds and if the past is any indication, I know it won't last. Maybe that's a subconcious reason for hording kits and supplies over the last year or so.

I have way more than will be built in this lifetime. Impulse buying has a lot to do with it. But they're there, paid for and they aren't eating anything. Just as long as I can keep a roof over my head and the electric bill paid so I can run the compressor, I'm good.

Besides, when the kids come over for the weekend, they love looking in *Daddy's Hobby Shop*. Big Smile [:D]

It's all for a rainy day my friend. I made a big move this year and started a new job where I make about 1/2 as much money as I did previously with about twice as many bills. I thank myself everyday for foolishly buying every kit that winked at me in the old hobby shop when I was making good dough. If it wasn't for that I would have killed myself out of boredom.

Hello, my name is Ron, and I am a modelaholic. LOL. My biggest problem is that I watch to darn much history channel when I am home. Wow its the 50th anniversary of breaking the sound barier. So what do I do? I buy a b-29 and an X-1. Ive got huge plans but the stuff is still in the box and the anniversary is long over now. I have quite a few projects like that now. Oh well, sometimes I think half of the fun is buying the stuff and adding it to my pile of booty. Case in point, I mailed all of my unbuilts to my
APO address here in the big sand box while I was home on leave. I thought to myself, ahha!!! I'll get all of these built now. WRONG!!! I am still mail ordering kits and I have 30 of them sitting in the corner in a big cardboard box. I know, Im pathetic. LOL.

Used to happen to me quite a bit, see something on the shelf, get all excited and take it.

Open the box and thats as far as it got for whatever reason. Some of the kits that have come into my possesion that way and usually been traded away or canibalized for other projects were:

Monogram 1/72 space shuttle
AMT/Esci 1/72 Tupolev TU-22 Backfire
Zvezda 1/72 Sukhoi SU-35 Flanker
Citadel Miniatures Lord of the Rings Ringwraith on Fellbeast

It doesn't happen to me very often, but when it does it's because I've gotten disgusted with the quality of the kit. I've learned to read kits reviews whenever possible and watch the forums for feedback on kits I'm interested.

I too have this same problem at times,so I take a break from it and go to a subject that I like.I also keep thinking what the kit would look like if I finish it.Then I read about it a little after which the mood hits me to finish it.It might take years like with the Bishop sp but after I start it again, boy does it turn out to some of the best work I have done.Digger

I too have a pile of crap that I will probabbly never build. I have been trying to force myself to only buying AM products for the models I have on my shelf that I am only going to build. No new kits until I finish what I already have. Unless of course it is needed for a dio that I will probabbly never build eitherBig Smile [:D]. I suppose the cycle never ends. I have managed to avoid several new releases and the overwhelming urge to buy a Panther kit. I suppose all my hoarding flaws come from being a dirt poor kid with not much in the way of material possesions. Now that I have a little money, I tend to hoard away like a squirrel getting ready for winter. Just in case I am ever broke again, I will always be able to build my models!! This could also explain the 300lbs of acorns and walnuts in my basement Shock [:O] (j/k)

I've dabbled in painting tiny little lead miniatures of fantasy figures (my brother wanted me to paint a bunch of them) - I did paint some, and bought some - but completely ran out of interest. They're collecting dust in a drawer somewhere........

Yep, absolutely no self-discipline or control here. I am truly pathetic. That's why I have a huge stack next to my workbench.....

yeah ditto here...

I have a 1/24 Spitfire sitting in my room just begging to be built... but somehow I always manage to slip a 1/48 build in front of it.. I haven't had it that long but I can already tell it is going to be one of those.

I like it because it was big, nice detail, and discounted to 40 dollars from 120.00.... but now I wish I had spent the money on another kit...

That is how I'm trying to be, I'm not being swayed by any of Tamiya's 1/48 armor. Now if I can just look past "it's on sale, buy it", I'll be okay.

Half of my 'stock' must fit that category, Eric... Worst of all, despite the kit inherent qualities, is AA's 1/48 Shenyang F-6-III... Oh well, maybe one day..!

I've done it more than a few times. You know, bought a kit out of excitement or whatnot, receive it and am excited for seconds before I ask myself....."why did I get this kit?" Case in point, Hasegawas IJN Nachi. I don't build ships, but it took me back to my childhood and was one of my first ships. I even noticed it was updated. It has sat partially built for years. I've done it many times with planes also. usually never build them. Always say I will start something new, but end up going back to my medium. Disapprove [V] Any others?
