Two sci-fi spaceships ready for final gloss, two German and one American armored cars ready for paint, one American armored car almost done and one Ford Tri-motor almost done for a total of 7. Get bored sometimes and need to switch projects or work on one while the other dries(paint, putty and glue)

just an update... working on one model is kinda refreshing for me... just started a SBD and it's kind of fun waiting and anticipating the next step... I think I got ahead of myself with the multiple builds...

one at a time suits me fine for now!!!

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] - One at a time for me. I build 1/32 aircraft so there is always something to work on while the paint dries. I think my last 3 kits (Trumpeter F-105G, Tamiya F-4E, Trumpeter A-10A (on the bench)) had in the vicinity of 400 pieces plus some aftermarket stuff.

I'm pretty much a start to finish type myself, so unless I cant find a specific paint color or something, never more than 1 or 2. although, if that happens I usually just box it and start and finish another one in the meantime. so lets say one.

One at a time, all the time. Start to finish for me.

I normally have 2 going at the same time, sometimes three but rarely. Anymore than that and I loose focus and on top of that I barely get enough time or have enough space to do 2. Though right now I am only working on one.

I try and keep to 2 or 3.

Anymore than that and I start to lose focus, any less and I bog down waiting for paint/glue to dry, and end up doing something stupid!

I'm also trying to do more research prior to each build, which now means the average build time is around 2 - 3 months.

Current builds are below.

Usually between 7 and 9 at a time. Most are small scale Armor, but I have one ship also going now.

Actually, for me it's a question of sanity more than perseverance. Prior to starting a build, I will set up a file on my computer and set up a section of shelving to organize electronic and hardcopy reference material. I'll typically spend at least a week researching the subject before I ever dig into the box.

Then, I'll look at the decals provided, the details on the vehicle molding, the optional parts available (if any), and start to whittle down "exactly" what vehicle I'm going to build. I'll jot down an outline of the things that need to be done (modifications, scratch-built parts, critical steps, etc.) and double check all my research before beginning.

Once started, I will frequently have to go back to reference photos or text to make sure I'm on the right track. So you can begin to see why I only build one kit at a time. There is just no way that I could do all this and keep the information straight for multiple builds at a time. There would be far too many chances of making bad mistakes and my sanity could very well suffer in the mean time. Big Smile [:D]

Usually never more than five on the go at a shot and one is usually a hypothetical project and those take even longer than normal builds.

I like to keep enough going so that there will always be something at the bench to go to but not so much that I spread myself too thin amoung the projects and they all suffer for it.

I am always working on a single project at a time. I have a hard enough time fining time to do even that one, never mind any more than that.

I generally focus on one at a time, but ocassionally (like right now) I need to distract myself a little. My P-61is driving me a little buggy for reasons I can't quite figure out, so I'm playing around with a cheap, simple BMP2 that has been sitting on my shelf for years.

What I mean is, how many models do you actually have "in process" at one time? Not one's you've started and shelved. But how many where you work on one, get to a point that you need to wait, move over to another one etc.? I find I usually have 3 under construction at one time. Or do you focus all your effort and attention into one at a time?
