Wondering about Verlinden.
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, November 8, 2004 1:20 PM
I was looking for some input on WW II Verlinden items. I saw some on ebay and thought they looked cool and then thought it would be fun to do some stuff with them. Probably not for a while since they seem to be a bit on the expensive side but what are some of your experiences with Verlinden stuff?

Also for 1/35 scale, say for the figurines, how tall would that be?

I can't help you with the Verlinden question but, a 1/35 figure, standing, would be just a we bit over 2 inches. That is, if you use a figure of 6 feet as your average.

Thanks for the info on the figures.

Btw, I didn't know there were other Okie's on this site. I'm from Yukon.

I've had nothing but good results with Verlinden stuff over the years. My first try was almost 20 years ago and they've just gotten better. My only complaint is sometimes the plaster buildings crack during shipping, but that is easily rectified with white glue. The figures get progressively better as time goes by compared to the first ones I saw many years ago.

I've also used Custom Dioramics and Warriors with equally good results. It all depends on which manufacturer has what you need at the time I guess.

I was looking at a site and on ebay with all the figures and buildings and thought it would be cool to make some sort diorama. They don't come painted do they? If not are they very difficult to paint? Maybe I'll start picking one up now and then when I get some spare change.

The figs are unpainted and in some cases might also require some assemblies, also i think many of them are either resin or white metal figures.

If you are new to painting figures try to get hold of a few cheap citadel or ral-partha figs and try different things on them.

Personally I have done figs from 1/4 scale down to a few 6mm W40K Armies(Space Marines were my own created chapter with it's own color scheme.

There are quite a few Sooners on here, Matthew.
Just off the top of my head, I can think of at least 9 others.
There are 3 in OK City, 1 in Perry, 1 in Tulsa, 1 in Seminole, 1 in Sperry and I think that there are a couple down at Fort Sill.
A couple of us had talked about getting together in Tulsa and going to a hobby shop in Owasso. But, it never got much past talk. In fact, one of those hasn't been heard from in awhile. Maybe I'll email him and see if everything is okay.
Catch ya later.
