Where would I find?????????
Posted by lolok on Saturday, November 13, 2004 6:23 AM
OK,now I have piqued your curiosity. A friend picked up a flying saucer kit at a car boot sale.It was unboxed but I think it is the AMT?Monogram? kit of the area 51 saucer with clear dishes, released a few years ago.Not the huge Polar lights "forbidden planet" machine.
He is a bit of a new age fan and has asked me to build it in a diorama featuring the statues of Easter island!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where, where, where would I find small (about 6") replicas of the Easter island heads????
If anyone can answer this query I will be frankly amazed.he is dead set on this diorama scenario though.

Since no two Easter Island heads are exactly alike, I would go with making them yourself to the proper scale for the kit. It shouldn't be too difficult. The heads are extremely pitted and weathered so perfection is definitely not needed and there are literally thousands of pictures available to use as reference.

I also doubt that you will find replica heads in any scale.

just on a whim I did a google search and like the third selection down I found this:

http://www.armorcast.com/terraform/Statues.html

an armor site with them for sale.. didn't look too much into it but what Foster said would probably work easier and be more realistic...

And I think Testors put that kit out some time in the mid or late 70's possibly... I remember seeing the Area 51 thing on the front and how it was supposed to be some secret government project and was actually flying etc... it stuck around awhile because I seem to recall seeing on the shelf when I was stationed in Wash DC at the LHS mid to late 80's...
