Idea for an 'all interests' GB later this year...

Well, I was just thinking that it would be cool going back to the sources, so to speak, and re-build the first ever model you built (or the first one you can remember).

For instance, I'm 99% certain my first ever plastic kit was Airfix' 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf-109G. Made a big mess out of it too!! ;-) The idea is to re-built this Airfix kit with, in my case, 30 years of experience in the hobby... See what can really be done with a rather poor kit (that 109), if time and some effort is put into it... Unfortunately I do not have that kit anymore (it ended up in the bin for sure, not long after I realised that I would need a second tube of glue to all all those smaller parts ;-) but I know some of you here still do, so we could have a little gallery of the 'before' and 'after' models.

Nothing too soon either. Lots of GBs right now, but also time needed to locate those kits (I'm pretty sure that Airfix 109 is OOP). Maybe October 2005?

What do you think?

october seems a wee bit early, but it's a great idea!!!! I would love to redo the academy mig-21 and put an aires detail set into it. And the catch should be (for those of us who can) post pics for the first time, and then this time!!!

Does Strombecker still make the solid wooden kit of the P-80 ? If not, I can't go back to the first one I remember. Smile [:)]

Wow, intersting idea. My first was a 1/48 P-6 Hawk in the early 70's but I don't remember who was the maunfacturer.
