You've got a really mixed bag as far as prices go. Most of the Aurora and the pre-1958 Revell kits can be very expensive to purchase today (I've seen Aurora instruction sheets or empty Aurora boxes go for $15 or more on E-Bay). If you want to sell them, I would recommend selling them on E-bay or by running an ad in FSM's Classifieds. I wouldn't recommend selling them to some one who buys kit collections as most of them will usually give you less than 10% of the kit's actual value.

If you decide you can do without the Renwal Atomic Cannon, send me an email.

Thanks,

I'm not an expert, but any of those Aurora kits are collector's items and would have fairly decent value. The Testors kits are reissues and some are still on the shelves. They are not worth a great deal of money, most of them retail for $5-7.

A gentleman named John Green puts out a Collectors value guide and has a web site which I think ifs the Collectorskitclearinghouse.com

I'm definitely not planning on opening or selling the kits that are more collector worthy. What I really want to know is which kits I don't have to feel guilty about opening up because they really haven't appreciated in value. Those I will open up and work on...
Thanks again gents!

doubt that the average would worth more than 100 $ per kit
so does it worth to part with them for 5-6K ?
if i were you i would not sell but it is your call.....

If I recall there are one or two people that compile such a guide.

Said that like with anything if you sell them expect to get less than that price, personally I would not use eBay as a price judging guide.

Too many kits got for too much or too litle compared to their real value.

Thanks for the offer. I will have to generate this list next time I go back to my old home at the beginning of March. I guess there is nothing equivalent to a coin or stamp collector's guide to prices then? I thought about seeing what prices pop up on e-bay, but wasn't sure if some of the rarer stuff would be there.

I'd be happy to look up prices for you. Just tell me what kits you need to know the price of. Be sure to include the kit number.

All I can suggest is to look around on e-bay, maybe contact some of the e-stores listed there and see what they have too say.

1950's Model Kits
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 30, 2005 8:20 AM
Recently my father passed away. He was a great collector and left me with 50-60 unmade mostly aircraft kits (plastic, wood, and metal) dating back to the 50's-70's. 90% of these are factory sealed. I was wondering if someone could point me to a source to determine collector's value of these kits. I'd hate to open anything worth more still sealed up...but anything that hasn't appreciated in value I can't wait to open!
Thanks,
Victor
