Long live Retrokit..!
Posted by djmodels1999 on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 2:02 AM
Well, I've finaly done it..! From scale modeler to pattern maker to becoming the proud co-owner of my own scale model company..! It's not really about the money, but about being able to produce what I feel is right and what I want (to some extent!).

Retrokit is the name of this new venture. We'll be starting off with a handful of brand new kits in resin, all AFV subjects, including various Germanised Somua MCGs and a family of M35 trucks. Figures and, kit conversion, accessories as well as diorama accessoriers are also on our list of things to get involved in.

I promise I won't ever again say a word about Retrokit in here, but I just wanted to tell someone I 'did it'.

Huh! I'm shocked, the powers that be haven't scolded you or locked the topic yet.
And also congratulations on living the dream.

Nothing better than to start a company that deals with something you truly love.

Congrats, and best of luck and lots of success in your new company.

That is absolutely great news DJ! There must be no better feeling than going out and doing something you have your heart set upon.

So are you taking requests? LOL! More X-Planes please! :)

Best wishes to you and your new venture!

Eric

PS. So are you going to have a website soon or a catalog of some sort? I can't wait!

Thanks Eric..! To answer your queries, we'll mostly do military vehicle stuff. Hpefully branch out in small scale accessories for small scale AFVs. It will be harder to 'compete' with the existing companies providing accessoris for aircraft models..!

As to a catalogue and a website, we'll have both, in time, but of course, you'll have to find out somewhere else than here! LOL

Thanks again. Well, it will definitely mean anther cut back on 'normal' scale modeling activities. I completely missed the Totally Insane build at the end of January for instance, so wrapped up I was in my little schemes! However, since I'll be designing stuff I want and need, it may still mean lots of little projects on the go!

Good luck and I commend you for crossing the line and starting a new company. I've always envied pattern makers. They must see things in a "negative" way.
