I see that a lot of people like Mr. Surfacer. But what is the difference between this product and a basic gray primerQuestion [?]

Mr. Surfacer can be sprayed or brushed on. It can fill small seams and can be removed with acetone.It also comes in two grades, 500 and 1000.

I think it is the same as lacquer primer. To me, it smells the same, and sands the same. The advantage is that you can buy it in small amounts, unlike automotive primer which you have to buy a pint at the least, and it can cost much more than the Mr. Surfacer. However you get more for your money, so....
