Whaddya mean I'm not authorized......?
Posted by overkillphil on Monday, February 28, 2005 12:28 PM
I just tried to click on the 'most recent post' for General Discussion on the forum index and the computer told me I don't have authorization to access. Is there a super secret forum that I don't know about or has FSM instituted some sort of stupid 'enhanced' membership that costs money?

Yeah, and now that I have posted a new topic, it disappeared from record and I look like a paranoid idiot.

When administrators post messages to each other on the Forum they are generally "hidden" from the general public and are not accessible to regular members. The most recent post was likely one of these "administrator to administrator" messages.

Administrator to administrator? Big Brother? Wow, conspiracy theories abound... Confused [%-)]

Like most message boards, we are database driven...as a result, the database hiccups once in awhile. There's no hidden secret societies, secret handshakes, or hidden forums aside from the Admin forums which you guys don't see, stuff like templates, and the home for wayward messages, stuff that's been removed for being inappropriate.

I would just chalk it up to 'things happen', because we all know that computers have minds of their own, and tempers too . In the meantime, I know there's a secret passage from the armor to the aircraft forum around here somewhere!! Wink [;)]

I've noticed it before. I believe the phenomenon occurs when an adminstrator is manipulating a post, such as moving it to a different forum or performing some type of edit, or deleting something.
At least, that's what seemed to be the situation when it's happened to me.

* pushes up the rim of his tinfoil hat *

Yeah, what Jeff said. Tongue [:P]

We don't do the messages from administrator to administrator thing here. We can either email, phone, or even *shudder* walk over to where each other works. Wink [;)]

Actually, J-Hulk explained it best. Most likely it was something moved or deleted.

No - Mulder and Scully never will get to the bottom of this mystery........they never actually answered any of MY questions on that show...........
Don't think they'll do us any favors here, either.
