If your interest is aircraft, the Aircraft Resource Center ( ARC ) is very good. Another good site is Hyperscale.

http://www.armorama.com for armor and fgure specialists (as well as plenty of other areas of interest)
http://www.ipmsusa.org for listings of events, local clubs and their associated websites.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Just google it. So far I'm at something like 200 bookmarks, all related to modelling one way or another. THere are hundreds of forums, retailer sites, and all sorts of other filler.

Some of us model in very small scales but we consider it modeling just the same.
