Hobby Lobby grand opening, and I missed it
Posted by berny13 on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 4:08 PM
A new Hobby Lobby just opened here in my home town. I found out about the grand opening a week later. I went by and most modeling supplies were already gone. All I needed was some paint and even that was gone. Oh well, I hope they get restocked very soon.Big Smile [:D]

At least you have one, wish I did. You get all the 40-50% off sales.

Berny - just wait a bit, June is a good time for the 50% off sale... if not then early July. HL has gotten better in their selection of kits. Recently I noticed in addition to the Tamiya fare they are stocking more and more Hasegawa kits. If you're lucky and you find the right sales person at the checkout they will discount ALL your hobby supplies!!! I got about 100 dollars in "stuff" one time for 54 dollars!!! (it helps to make sweet eyes haha) last summer about 3 weeks after one 50% off sale they had a 40% off sale... so you can really stock up!!!

I'd say they are doing a good job at promoting the hobby by providing low income (or cheap modlers like me) with nice models at low prices.

Don't know what your HL is like but... The ones locally have good selection of kits (althought they don't intro new stock often enough) but they have only a limited selection of paint and supplies so don't expect miracles. On the other hand HL is a good source for brushes, charcoal for weathering etc.

I have enough model kits to last a life time. What I need now is paint and some modeling supplies. By the time I got there they were all sold out. I am going to hit them agasin next week and hope they have re supplied their paints.

We are getting one in Shawnee soon. It will only be about twenty miles away from where I live, better than 50 miles to the one in Norman.

The best deal I have picked up lately was the new Hasegawa P-40E on half off.
