I've been in the same situation myself, it was a kit I had spent six months on and it was my favourite build, to my surprise I was offered a lot of money for it but I still have it on my display shelf today. It's not my best build, but it is still my favourite and thats why I did'nt sell it.

If your kit is one you can live without, take the money and buy yourself something special with it. Plus, it is pretty cool to tell folks that people buy your models!

Just take the money, buy another kit and rebuild it if you love it that much.

In my opinion I would sell it and with the money buy another kit. That's just my My 2 cents [2c].

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] The stores in my area also encourage customers to display completed models in the stores. They all have big display cases and are well lit to show off the models.

It likely depends on the LHS. At the one I frequent, the Owner encourages his customers to display built models. He has two large display cases with areas set aside for Aircraft, Armor, Figures, Ships, Autos & Sci Fi. He does have some restrictions, in that he will only accept models from kits that are currently available, and the models must meet his build quality standards, which are fairly high. However, he does reserve a small section for Junior/Newbie modelers so that they aren't totally shut out.

I always have a few models on display at the LHS & occassionally someone will make an offer to purchase one. I usually don't accept unless the $ is generous & the model could be fairly easily replaced.

If it doesn't have any sentimental value, I would tell you to take the money and buy more models!

First off, (if it were me) I see if there was any sentimental connection to it. (Something already stated.) My second step would be to see what the "profit" margin would be if I did sell it. Figure out approxomately how much money you put into it (cost of the kit, about the cost of paint, glue, etc.), and subtract that from the $250 this guy's offering for it. If it only comes to about $5, I doubt it'd be worth it, but I'm sure it'll be more than that. Once you know that, it should help you make your final decison.

I hope this helped a little. A great model, by the way.

I'd say that unless it has a special memory, sell it and by another one to build to replace it. I've made model's for friends in the past as gifts and then built another on for myself that usually turned out better, because I didn't make the same mistakes.

Depends. If it is one of your favorite models, I would say keep it at all costs. If you like it but wouldn't mind seeing it go, sell it.

Modelers, I've been building models for quite some time. By no means do I consider myself a pro.

I built a 1/32 Trumpeter Mig-19 almost two years ago utilizing SNJ. In fact, it's the one in my SIG pic below! It's the first time I'd built a BMF model with anything besides silver paint from the old days. This model sat at home for awhile and, a few months ago, I decided to take it to the local hobby shop where a few of my other built models are.

Today, the shopkeeper asked if I wanted to sell it. A gentlemen from Las Vegas (I'm in Georgia, BTW) has been bugging him to contact me to see if I was interested. He said he'd give me $250 for it! Whoa! Ok, I've never sold a model to someone or evern built one for someone. To be honest, being at the shop, I feel as though I still have visitation rights. It's kinda hard to see it go. Especially to the other side of the country! I may be crazy, but I'm really having to think about this!

I just wanted to get everyone's opinions on this. This unwalked ground for me!
