I can't believe it.

The other night I was sitting down at my work station and working on my build, when my oldest daughter (12 years old) comes up to me and says she wants to build models. When she said this my jaw just hit the floor. I was in total shock. She is really great with art and loves to draw. Even though she wants to build autos, I think this will give her a little appreciation for the hobby. Before she would say "Dad what toy you working on now?" Even though she knows that jerks my chain when the say the T word. I told her I have a bunch of autos that I would probally never get to anytime soon and I will make her some room on work table for her. Just seeing the expression on her face was priceless. Well I am done rambling for now.

It's really great when your child takes an interest in modeling. But beware, she may take over the bench Smile [:)]

We are getting ready to make a family/rec room in the garage and one portion is going to be strickly for me and a new work station. So space isn't going to be that much of a problem Wink [;)].

That is so great to hear that she is interested in building! Enjoy all the time you two will be having building together; after all, I hear that father-daughter building is a great thing. One way to keep her encouraged is to take her to a couple model meetings and/or contests if there are any in your area. Of course, don't forget to post pics here of the models that she builds!Cool [8D]Thumbs Up [tup]

I took my 11 yr old daughter to a model show last fall. She had been to a few of the IPMS meetings as well. She entered about a dozen kits and won three trophies. She was very happy (although one trophy was 2nd out of 2 entries and one was 3rd out of 3 entries).

Currently she's working on a Polar Lights snap-tite Herbie the Love Bug and a Tamiya Pink Panther (she likes the color).

Thats great Bryan. I have a 2 1/2 yr. boy who gets in my lap from time to time to see what im doing. Maybe one day we will be able to build something together. My wife tells me to enjoy it while I can because one day he will be asking for the car keys instead of the CA.

My 5 year old son has told me the exact same thing the other day. I built an airplane with my kids before and they were eager to do it. That was the first time they came up to me and asked me. I told him when all the VBS stuff is over we will put some more a/c/ together.

Hehe, very nice. I look forward to the day when I have a child, and you can bet I'll be trying very hard to get them interested in the hobby.
