I've been modeling for a while and in my area there doesn't seem to be much interest in the hobby. No shops reasonable close, and never any word of clubs. So my question is , is anybody out there from the Valley and if so How do y'all survive the great distance between the rest of the modeling world?

Whoa.....

Its not often you see the words RIo Grande in conjunction with this hobby.

No sure what end of the valley you are on, but there is a modeling club in McAllen that meest once a month at the Green Beret Army/Navy store.

I was surprised to see a fairly good stock of models and supplies (for the Valley at least) and the staff is pretty knowledgeable. Ask for Mark or Greg, they are great guys.

Anyhow, we have everything from car modellers to shipbuilders to the good old armor and aircraft guys. I think we even a got a sci fi builder, though I have not met him yet.

Meetings are first Saturday of the month, except for july we are doing second Saturday (due to the Holiday).

Come on by if you can.
