Was just wondering:
Has anyone ever reverted to childhood modeling, and just for the sheer enjoyment (and stress relief), thrown a kit together in an hour or so--just like you did when you were a kid?
I tried this not long ago. Found an old jet kit that I gave a couple bucks for. Tore open the package and started pulling stuff off the sprue trees (I did cut a few of the parts that were delicate or firmly attached). Then without painting, sanding, trimming, filling, etc. , and glued all the parts together. I even left the landing gear off, but glued the doors closed. Found some brown paint in a spray can, shot the whole model, then glued the canopy on. When dry, gave it to my son to play with/destroy, etc. He was elated. I had parts left over, glue smears here and there--the whole works.
Found it to be great therapy. Was just wondering if I'm the only crazy one out there?
