New IPMS Convert

Hey Everyone,

Has anyone visited the IPMS Nationals?
I'm lucky enough to live in a suburb of Atlanta, so I got a chance to attend the meetings yesterday and the day before. Originally, I had planned to go only one day, naively believing I could take everything in in a few hours.

I've never been to any sort of model show before, nor am I a member of IPMS. Both of these things are going to change! The hundreds of planes on display show a level of talent that doesn't quite come across over the internet. Even though I can endlessly peruse the aircraft pix in this forum and others, the same models look so much better in real life (though I had thought it would be the opposite). I guess this is true also of the other model categories, but really I spent my time in workshops and then taking in the wings. Almost without exception, each model looked like it belonged in an aviation museum. I guess the judges have extremely discerning eyes.

Anyway, if you've never been to one of these shows, I highly recommend it! The convention isn't over, and I'm already looking forward to the next one>

Take care,

Mark

I went to the Nats in Chicago a few years ago and am planning on going to the K.C. show next year. The shows are definitely worth the expense.

I have made it to 4 of these including Phoenix last year.

It is also fun to go to the Regional contests and even some of the local ones bring in some fun kits.
I noticed a lot of the Sci-fi kits and figures were at Wonderfest this year also.
