molding marks
Posted by dubix88 on Saturday, July 5, 2003 5:09 PM
HEY,
I am having a little problem with the interior of my '69 Camaro Convertable. I cant help but notice that there are marks on the floorboard and the sides from when the company molded the model. How would i get these out and still have a floor that doesnt look flat and sanded?

Randy, I'm not sure of the set up you have, but it may be that you could sand the floor flat and then add masking tape 'carpet' painted to the proper color. Just a thought.

You could use flocking to replicate the carpeting.

Randy,
"Flocking" is a very fine shredded fabric - basically extremely short strands of a single fibre - it comes in many colors. People use it to simulate carpet and fabric on model cars and in dioramas.
The easiest way to apply it is to lay down a layer of glue or paint (on the area you want to flock), sprinkle it on (I use a salt shaker) until the area is covered and then shake off the excess.
I get my flocking from a hobby shop that specialises in model trains - I'm not into trains, but I find that these model railroad shops always seem to have better scratchbuilding supplies than "normal" model shops.
Cheers,
