My only problem with them is that they don't backorder stuff, and their website doesn't say if an item is in stock.

Case in point: I ordered a model, decals and some photo etched parts for the model but the PE parts were out of stock. My order was barely over $50 so I got hit for the higher shipping charge even though $10 of the order was not sent. So in reality they were shipping $40 of merchandise, which is sent at a cheaper rate. I guess I'm being stingy, but things like that really annoy me.

Second time: I ordered 3 models and only one was in stock, and the only one that came was one I really didn't want, but the price was right . Quite frankly if I would have known the 2 I really wanted weren't instock, I wouldn't even have bothered with the order.

If only I could pick up on Saturday. They'd only need to have someone at the counter for a couple hours...

Come to think of it, perhaps the problem is only part Squadron (for disregarding your guys' shipping preference). Perhaps its part USPS for not being a little more user friendly? Of course, more "user friendly" could quickly manifest itself in postal rates going up...

I too, feel that USPS offices should change their workhours a bit because seriously, they like open for 15 seconds!
my usps and fedex dropoff time is 5 minutes before I come home from school, so I have no problems. (okay, I'll let you guys beat me up if you promise not to hit hard)

I guess the FedEx guy should have known that your parents never use that door.

If that's the case, now, it didn't use to be. I had a Squadron order shipped by USPS to my house, twice in the past. The first time it got there within 2-3 days, so I gave them another shot. The second time it took almost two weeks.

Other than these two instances, I always request FedEx. I typically get the order five business days after ordering. I never had it shipped any other way.

Also, I live on a busy street of rowhouses in Northeast Philadelphia. I have a package or two delivered to my house pretty much every week, while my wife and I are at work. The package is either left in front of my front door, or in front of my garage, and I've never had a problem. The package is always there when I get home.

my last two shipments i chose usps ( us postal service)
my stuff comes from the post office in the a.m. and i can then leave the house nice
well they dont listen too well there at squadron they sent both shipments fed-ex
i my area fed-ex, ups, dhl ,etc all come from 4 pm to 7 p.m.
leaving the package unattended because i am not home
and the shipments were small so they can't say it was too big for the post office

I am 100% certain that on the Squadron ordering page the USPS option is only for shipping the package to a post office box. Otherwise it goes FedEx.

Hate to tell you guy's all the horror stories about UPS, we ship everthing out of our office by UPS, of course it's not always UPS's fault(mail room, weather, etc.)

I once shipped a package from Kelowna BC to Seattle WA via UPS. It went Kelowna BC > Vancouver BC, Vancouver BC > Anchorage AK, Anchorage AK> Orange County CA, Orange County CA > Portland OR, and finally Portland OR > Seattle WA.

In case anyone doesn't know, Vancouver BC is 100 miles north of Seattle and less then 8 hours drive from Kelowna. Why they sent it to Alaska is anybody's guess.

I always figured UPS stands for Ur Package (is) Somewhere!

So long folks!

I've dealt with Squadron a lot over the years & never had a problem with shipping. They are a little slow sometimes, but that's my impatience showing.

John - yeah you can change the shipping address when you make your order, as long as your job doesn't care it can be delivered there. (I haven't done it with squadron but other companies when the Fed Ex guy wouldn't just leave it at the house)

I live in a rural area so they just leave it on the front porch here.. which is handy for me.. except once I waited 1.5 weeks for something from squadron and was getting upset until one day I noticed the door mat was under the bench we had on the porch, I went to get it out and put it in front of th door again, and there was my box from Squadron underneath, along with the delievery slip. It had only taken 3 days to get to me but I guess the Fed Ex guy felt wierd about leaving it out in the open..

Can you ship to your work address or a friends or relatives address? If you can that solves the receiving problem. USPS used to work Sat mornings but cut the service to save money at the same time they raised postage.

I've never had any problems with Squadron's shipping methods. I may be wrong, but I think they only offer FED-EX or USPS. The last few orders that I made, there were only two choices. I like FED-EX becuase when I order on Monday, I have it by Wednesday, with USPS or UPS, it's 5 working days.

If you don't want your package unattended, have a 'Signature Required' and a time for delivery added to it.

Durr-I've had the same problem-there's another thread dealing with this. The shipping department makes the final decision-I ask for UPS I get Fed Ex-although I hope I don't get USPS. FedEx and UPS wil leave packages unattended-but you have to make a special pick up time with the USPS.
